The last report we saw here about the path of Irma looks like they feel it may be going right up the middle of Florida and from Florida through Georgia and onto to the Carolinas. Irma seems to be a category 4 hurricane at this time. Hopefully after it hits land the winds will slow down enough for it to be a category 3. We have prepared for this storm the best we can and will stay in our home. Our area has voluntary evacuation for people living in mobile homes, campers, and such. There is talk about making it mandatory. I am hoping and praying that everyone who will be affected by this storm gets through it safe and sound and the damage is minimal. Image Credit: Pixabay

@TiarasOceanView That's what we thought. Here's hoping Irma doesn't decide to little to the west or we will be in the middle of her path.

@Kandae11 that was a smart thing to do. If you lose your roof you aren't safe by any means.

@HazySue When I lived in the city my house did not have a slab roof - so when a dangerous hurricane was looming, I would stay at a friend's house.

Let's hope that this hurricane won't cause too much damage and everyone is able to stay safe. It's crazy to think there are two hurricanes going by in the same area in such a short amount of time.

I've been praying that Irma would fizzle with Jose never even getting close to Florida.

Is it wise to stay in your home with the hurricane coming at you? I didn't know you were in Florida. My prayers are with everyone there.

The house we are in is very well built. We were lucky in that there was no damage to it. The only damage we had here at this house was a few trees. In Summerfield we lost a storage building and all of the things in it were ruined.

Yeah, we will be staying too unless it's made mandatory. We're in a no evacuation zone though so we should be pretty safe where we are. Praying for everyone!

@HazySue I was lucky and didn't sustain any damage to my house at all. I didn't lose any trees, nor did I even lose power. I got lucky. So many of my friends and co-workers didn't fare so well thought. I feel bad. We have one employee at work that still doesn't have power at her house, and it's been almost two weeks since the storm hit.

What do the different categories mean? I really truly hope you will be out of the way of Irma and will be safe and that she does not head your way. Just looking at the picture makes me scared. I can imagine what it feels like in real life with that thing coming.
