It's that time of year again. Time for flu and cold to come lingering around us. Here are some ways to strengthen the body against these things:
1. Reduce stress to the body and improve cardiovascular strength by getting out and enjoying nature and your local parks. Don't over do it though because that can actually weaken the immune system. Then can also raise stress hormones in the body.
2. Eat more carrots, mushrooms, Autumn squash and sweet potatoes for the Vitamin A needed this time of year.
3. Sleep is all important this time of year. This is the time when the body is able to repair and reaccess what is needed. Get in the habit of turning the devices off at the same each night and get the rest your body needs. Take naps during the day if you feel you need them.
4. Be sure to drink enough water to keep your body hydrated. Your body is made up of 60 percent water. Each of your organs needs water to work efficiently. Don't let your body get dehydrated for this can effect your immune system.
5. Be sure you are getting the essential immune booster nutrients. These are basically vitamins C,E, A, D and K. Also zinc.

I take garlic and chop it up and use a lot of that, also spinach for Vitamin K, lemons in tea and honey also. Ginger I use in fresh banana shakes. All these help.

I try to eat a balanced diet and take a good multivitamin too. Water is something that I drink plenty of during the day. Have to get out there and walk a bit more though.

That's good. I'm not a big veggie fan but I do try.

@celticeagle I'm not either, but with only fruits and veggies and meat on this diet, I've done my best to eat more of them.

@celticeagle The sweet kind are loaded with vitamin B6, potassium, and iron which I believe keeps your body strong along with protecting your immune system. Also has a lot of dietary fiber for digestive health. Maybe put a little butter and brown sugar on them? It can't hurt

@dgobucks226 ........Potatoes have a lot of nutrients on their own. I don't like the sweet kind.
