A sign you are getting old...

So I deposited my paycheck this morning at the bank drive-thru, got my receipt, tossed it on the dash, and left. And just as I started to pull onto the road I looked at it to check my balance and saw the teller had made a mistake and turned a deposit of slightly over $300.00 into a deposit of slightly over $3,000.00 and I could buy a LOT more vinyl that I thought I could! But I'm older than I was back in the day when I would have quickly spent the money before they saw the mistake and hang the consequences. So I pulled back up to the drive-thru, pointed out the mistake, and was quickly $2,700.00 poorer. Oh well...

You have become a good and responsible citizen in your dotage. But so much vinyl is calling your name...

It is good to know that I am not the only one who would point out such an error.

Getting old perhaps . . . but getting wiser too . You may not have that moola . . . but maybe something grander will be going your way - just for being a good boy .

I'd like to have the teller make that mistake with my deposits lol. Wonder though what happens if we spend the money that they deposit accidentally due to a typo.

@JolietJake Even if they made the mistake and we don't realize that our balance is not what it should be?
@JolietJake (50190)

@lovebuglena Yep. The way the laws are set up, we are still responsible for it
@JolietJake (50190)

We end up being held responsible for it and are expected to pay it back if we spend it

They would have caught the mistake sooner or later. It is a good idea that you pointed it out to them.

Yeah, but they would have had trouble getting the money back, I would have withdrawn it and changed banks

Hilarious! You are not $2700 poorer because technically that was not your money and probably you saved someone's job.

Older but wiser, and jail would not be kind to your old bones. Plus Scar would miss you. You made the right choice.

"Bank error in your favor" only happens in Monopoly. Everything is computerised these days so it wouldn't take long for the error to show up.
