I either had 9/100 of a cent left over or I owe myLot 9/100 of a cent

It seems that every 6 or 7 months, my balances 'work out' properly, but usually there is a difference between what shows on the header and what shows on the earning page.
I know why it happens...myLot 'rounds off' payments when they send them out...if I have $5.3468 at the end of the month, they'll pay an extra $0.0032 and send $5.35 to me...if I have $5.3417 they'll keep $0.0017 and send $5.34 to me.
But I always lose track of if they owe me, or if I owe them.
Not that it matters...they'll figure it out, and I'm sure that $0.0009 isn't gonna make either of us bankrupt...I hope.

that is in ten thousandths, isn't it? so, the best way rounding off. more easier to do the accounting balance, maybe.
and yes, it will not make you both bankrupt because that 4 digits to the right, after the decimal point.

No, it is hundredths. Three places to the right of the decimal shows tenths, 4 places shows hundredths, 5 places shows thousandths, 6 places shows ten thousandths of a cent...4 places would be ten thousandths of a dollar, yes, but we are talking cents.

Could be worse... Canada no longer has pennies, so things are rounded up or down. Sometimes we get dinged, sometimes the store does. Of course, if we use credit or debit cards, the exact amount gets charged.

@JolietJake If you were paying cash. If you pumped $10.01 of gas and paid cash, you'd only be asked for $10. As I said, it doesn't happen with card payments.

That's the only reason I wouldn't want to get rid of them...instead of going a penny over at the gas pump, you'd go 5 cents over

@JolietJake Yah, what's up with that fraction of a cent with gas prices? I suppose it's important for a price like $2.99 -9/10 . . . it "looks" cheaper than the full $3.00
.

That could be the extra 9/10 of cents I need to get that full gallon of gas...I hadn't thought about it until now, but gas prices always have that extra tenth on the end

We would be in a sorry state of finances if that small amount could break us. It is always nice to get paid.

So, I guess that's why my numbers don't match. I was wondering why that is.

I normally don't even notice until I am checking, which I normally don't...but with the header reading an even cent amount it kinda just jumped out at me

There system is automatic, so this is the way they've got it set up. When these things are done by high-tech equipment, there's no room for error, on their part. If I tried to understand this fully, I'd go crazy!
