myLot: Food for Thought?

How many hours of each day do we spend eating, I wonder? These days, I might take half an hour or less for breakfast and lunch and perhaps twice as long for dinner (or supper or whatever you call it - the main meal, anyway). In the past, I have certainly taken longer, especially when conversation is involved (and one mustn't forget all those snacks, too). On average, therefore, it might be reasonable to say that I've spent 3 or 3 and a half hours out of every 24 eating in one way or another! That amounts to one seventh of my life! I looked at my profile today and noticed that myLot doesn't seem to calculate age properly because I also reckon that I have been a member of myLot for one seventh of my life (though, of course, being a member doesn't mean that I've spent 11 years reading, typing, chuckling and whatever else!). Milestone? Nope! I hate milestones. They are only there to trip you up, stub your toe against or otherwise impede you. The only milestones worth knowing about are those on which you can rest to eat your lunch or those which tell you how far it is to your destination and, in life, we don't have the latter, thankfully!

Fine picture of a milestone Too many calculations for my brain here. Is it a birthday or an anniversary that you want to not celebrate? Happy birthday/anniversary Owl.

Some milestones are worth noting, but if every milestone is to be condemned on mylot...the first to go should be the "I reached $5,". Really you didn't need to write about that. I find it annoying. I don't throw a hairy canary....I don't rant and rave....I just quietly move on to the next discussion...probably also announcing to the world that hey! They just go paid, or look at the awesome writing site I discovered. By the way. Best wishes...whether or not your profile shows things correctly.

Happy cycling... whatever has come around again and you're happy about it, may it cycle around again.

I try not to think about how much of life is spent just keeping going. Sometimes it seems that all I do is work to earn money that I can spend on food that I can prepare just so I can eat it to stay alive to work another day to earn money for food to stay alive etc. etc. not to mention washing and cleaning just so I have clean things to wear for a few more days so I can then wash them and wear them again and all that sort of thing. I guess that's mostly what life is. It doesn't leave a whole lot of time for philosophy or great inventions. I have wondered whether all those famous (mostly) men who did great works lived in utter squalor and relied on their wives to push food at them now and again. In fact I could probably write a post about that!

I enjoy sleeping, and am glad to spend 1/3 of my life doing just that.

"To sleep, perhance to dream!" was something that worried Hamlet not a little, Personally, I mostly enjoy my dreams, though I have had some bad ones, and that is why I don't begrudge giving up a third of my life to sleeping, especially on cold winter mornings when there's no urgency to being up and about!

I am the person who spends a very less time on breakfast, lunch, meals, and dinner. I finish fast and again sit for my work of whatever nature it may be. See you tomorrow.

Things are so much easier for my cat Sid his life completely consists of eating, sleeping and the occasional mood for wanting to be petted and loved. Other than that I never consider how much time I spend on the things I do.

Remember the days of 'business lunches' which could go on for about four hours? If a manager went off to one of those then the staff wouldn't expect to see them again for the rest of the day!

i made a milestone discussion when i hit the 300th. i hope i don't make a milestone discussion about what i have and do here in this site. and i eat longer than my students. i like to chew my food slowly while conversing with others. i even said that we should chew our food 20 times for easier digestion. heheh

Breakfast, lunch, dinner . . . don't forget dessert . . . especially the kind that requires a few candles .

I know that today is a special day for you, Happy Birthday. I like better the seventh of my life spent eating that the much longer time spend sleeping.
