Our Ice Princess has been back on the ice for almost two weeks, after fracturing her heel in off-ice practice. She was cleared by her orthopedic surgeon, but still is required to have therapy to prevent future issues.
The Ice Princess is busy learning a new routine for her first competition of the year in February at Lake Placid, NeYork.
Unfortunately or fortunately, however you may look at it, she will have to stop all practice tomorrow. The following day she leaves for The Bahamas with her family for a week of fun in the sun. She'll be so close to us, yet far, far away!

She loves the ice, brrrr, but loves swimming, sailing, and water skiing, too. She is a lucky little girl to be able to do all those things. Me, I throw pebbles into the ocean as my sport.
It's amazing how quickly she healed. I'd be in traction until June.

@DianneN Children heal fast. Not us old codgers.
I tried water skiing as a kid, but didn't do too well. Though I didn't have a lot of chances with it. My uncle had a boat with water ski equipment he brought to a family reunion when I was a kid and took all the kids out. I totally enjoyed it, but never had another opportunity to do it again. I love sailing, but not much chance of that either. So I swim, but not this morning. I'm ready to go, but I'm coughing up a lung this morning. This cold weather is to blame. I really wish we had eased into this cold weather instead of it being all at once. 50 one day, 20 the next with wind chills on top of that. So today, I'm staying home and not spreading the germs.
Yes, your granddaughter is one very fortunate young lady. Very talented.

She's back doing what she loves to do! February's competition will be a piece of cake, with a 1/2 inch of frosting on top:)

@DianneN There is a place called Kanyakumari here in India that has three colours of sand and that is where the 3 seas Indian ocean, Arabian and the Bay of Bengal meet. Some enterprising souls sell these sands in tiny plastic bags and we bought them (lol)

It is so powdery soft and lovely, unless it's wedged in your bathing suit! Lol! Have you seen the pink sands of Bermuda or the black sands of Hawaii? What a beautiful world we have. I feel badly for those who never left their own areas.

She was skating for 40 minutes a day with her injury, and got off the ice when her foot ached. No jumping, however. I was surprised the doctor allowed it at all. Now, she's a bit off with her jumps and is working hard on them again. Youth!!!! lol

@infatuatedbby Early, yes. They are taking the kids out of school. Who could blame them? Free flight there, free stay at The Ocean Club, and cheap flight home. They will only have to pay for food, entertainment, and of course, treat their friends.

@DianneN Oh yes some coaches can be. My sister's rhythmic gymnastics coach was super tough too, I couldn't help feeling sorry for my sister sometimes!

@cahaya1983 Sometimes being tough is what makes them better.

Aw yay! I'm glad her foot is better.
Might be good she goes on a trip and all before she has to practice like crazy for February
