The kids and pets in this house are so smart

My daughter is amazing at art and she is very smart. I didn’t want to talk about my sons talents without me mentioning how great my daughter is too.
My son used his Christmas money to buy a harmonica. He watched a video on YouTube yesterday on how to play “Happy Birthday” and after a few tries has pretty much mastered it. I think it is awesome.
I showed the puppy three times how to “sit” and on the fourth time she did as I asked. Each time we have asked her to sit for her food the past two days she has done it.
These kids and animals always impress me how smart they are and how fast they catch on to things. Now if I could get the parrot to say something I would be estatic.
Picture is of my puppy.

@amadeo thank you for posting that I was making dinner and hadn't had time to look him up yet. That really is impressive how well he played that! It's amazing how they are able to do things with their hands to make the sounds different. So very neat!

He is 5 and we got him from a friend 6 months ago. He just hasn’t said anything else but Hello since we got him. He will eventually. He mumbles to himself when we can’t see him and he thinks we are gone but it’s hard to pinpoint what he is trying to say. I’m pretty sure he had said Yeah and What a few times.

I say the same things to the parrot every single day but so far he hasn't clearly said any new words since we got him about 6 months ago. He mumbles when we are not in the room but he seems to want to perfect his speech before saying the new words.

@shaggin thats funny. a parrot that mumbles. have you ask the vet or anyone that has one how long it takes or if there is something wrong with his voice capacity ?

@bunnybon7 The girl we got him from said it took him 5 years to say hello. My parakeet said quite a few things by the time it was two.

I figured he would try it out and hate it and quit but he seems naturally good at it!

Sounds like they all have great talent.
You must be very proud! I'm sure the parrot would eventually get there too.

He is such an odd bird but I am sure he will say more when he is really. It is fascinating hearing them talk. I am so proud of my kids the talents they have. I wish I had more of their talent it amazes me. I’m working on teaching the puppy to walk beside me on her leash as well and am hopeful I can get her to learn to pick up her toys someday

Keep working with that parrot, I think you are a whisper, one who can get anyone to do things...

I think being naturally smart has so many advantages. I wish I had the brains these kids have and talent! I never really noticed my cats as being smart like my puppy but I never tried teaching them tricks etc.

Dogs are very intelligent. I have experienced that myself.

I have read stories that I think may be false about parrots ordering their own treats through Alexa, or giving commands to Alexa or some other smart device about turning on lights, television and radio and really running up electric bills. On CBS on weekends is a guy who rescues and trains dogs. The show is Lucky Dog. He shows the seven basic commands. I believe your dog must be quite smart and wanting to please you. Your kids are great.

I noticed early on how smart the puppy was but chalk it up to being home with her all the time to teach her. My boyfriends dog is a year old but learns slower and I think it’s because he works so much. His son now for the past 6 months at least is home at 3:30 from school to spend time with her. Before that she was home alone for about 12 hours. I don’t think a parrot could pick up that much stuff since they just mimic the sounds they hear often.

My son goes back and forth on what he is interested in. My daughter spends most her money buying music CDs. My son has spent almost all his Christmas money on wwe action figures. He got a few video games for Christmas but is mostly watching YouTube videos and movies.

She is sweet but at times she’s really a mean little thing like running up behind the cat and biting her back end etc.

For the moment she associates the food with the order to sit.
