St Munchin - Patron Saint of McDonalds?

There must be hundreds and hundreds of saints around the place and some seem very obscure. In County Limerick in Ireland we came across St Munchin. When we lived in a suburb in Perth, Western Australia, our two boys went to a catholic school which was called St Munchin’s so of course when we saw the sign in Limerick we had to take a photo of it. Research reveals that St Munchin is the patron of Limerick and was called "the Wise." Munchin is an anglicised version of Maincin, meaning "little monk." He is thought to have been born in County Clare and may have been a bishop. An irreverent friend believes he is the patron saint of MacDonalds.

@arthurchappell Oh I see. Although I've seen Wizard of Oz on stage I'm not really that familiar with it.

My sister-in-law was a nun and took the name of St Therese as her 'saint's name'.

I bathed my hands in a St Brigid's well in Ireland but it hasn't helped my arthritis much - at least I don't think it has.

It is an anglicised name of Mainchín mac Setnai, he is an Irish Saint. It is funny to see that the word MAC is part of his real name.

Too bad how big parts of medieval history wasn’t recorded and is just based on beliefs and assumptions. I guess future generations won’t say the same about our days when almost every event or place has been captured by mobile cameras.

We never buy from McDonalds and rarely from any other fast food places. Just very occasionally from Hungry Jacks or KFC.
