"myLot needs to change"

"People need to change what they write. myLot needs to change how it pays. myLot needs this. myLot needs that. Bla bla bla."
I see many discussions off and on about 'myLot needs to change' this or that or whatever.
And 95 times out of 100 the changes 'needed' are how someone else wants the site to be for them and don't really care how the site is for everyone else.
Very seldom do I see any 'changes' suggested to help out the community as a whole.
"myLot needs different ways to pay because I can't cash out."
"People need to write differently because I think the discussions are drivel."
"myLot needs to pay more because I am not making enough money here."
I'm sure, if I wanted to, I could think of ways myLot should change to suit me...but why should it?
I came here and joined with myLot operating the way it was when I joined.
If I don't like that, I am perfectly free to go somewhere else...or to start my own site with my own vision of how I think it should be.
I wonder why I never see 'suggestions' of changes that will benefit everyone?
Including myLot itself.
Just my thoughts this morning...

You are right, not a single time I have seen suggestions that would benefit the myLot community. I like myLot as it is. It is incredible how, most of the time, are those who joined from only a few days that want to see changes in "their" favor only.

I don't think the long time writers are in a habit of wishing for changes in the Mylot format. There are additions that might prove beneficial...but like you said, if I don't like it I'm free to go elsewhere.

It always amazes me seeing someone that has just joined recently and within a day or so begins 'suggesting' how myLot needs to change...even some that have been around several months suggest 'changes' that are things to benefit them.

@JudyEv guideline? You mean we are expected to read them? And perhaps follow them?

I want payment to be quadrupled to me. I want posts tailored to me. I want the site to cater to my needs and whims. This message has been sponsored by his Magnificence Emperor Scar of myLottia.

What did JFK say? Ask not what myLot can do for you but ask what you can do for myLot?

The thing or things I want from mylot are more emojis or at least they would allow emojis from Mac or iPhone and a mylot app for smartphones!

Well, the problem is that this site is called MY Lot, and some people take that literally.

I agree. I just came from a discussion where someone wants to change the site to quality literary posts. He looks down on most of us as writing drivel. I can write a scholarly work if I want but nobody is going to answer. I said the secret of writing is to write for your readers. You need to know what interests them.

Mostly newbies doing that keep on suggesting to changes to be made.its like to grab attention of everyone to their discussion and nothing else in it.hope they stop suggestions..I would appreciate if it is really good changes, and useful to everyone as you said.

Most people don't realize the only good changes are those that benefit the site as well as everyone in it

Hi! I share your sentiment. Most people want what they want. I mean to say, they will only suggest for something that will benefit themselves. And I think most people come here expecting something more than MyLot could provide instead of making friends and reading interesting topics. Monetary must be just secondary.

I think it's common on most sites for people to say they want change .. bit of a cheek really. I personally just carry on with the way things are and if I didn't like something about a site I would just leave. It's what I've done in the past.

I would like to be able to add more photos but I am not sure that would benefit anyone else. I find that the site works pretty consistently and is a fun place to hang out so I really don't want anything to change.

I never suggest for the site to change, I always target the posters. But then, I know it will be as they are, so I just suggest without hoping for the best. :P

I agree with you. Before myLot members crab and complain about changes needed on myLot, they should keep in mind that myLot is still alive and kicking, unlike tons of other writing sites that have long since succumbed to extinction.

Exactly. The owners must be doing it right if it has survived this long.
