Wacky gig this evening--wish me luck!

@JudyEv I think making the audience feel comfortable is an important part of performing. That's an area where the lead singer in our band, Durt Cheap, falls short, I think.

@TheHorse Yes, it's over now but it wasn't the best performer we've ever had. A nice guy but not much stage presence for want of a better word (or two). His name was T J O'Donovan.

How about a female band leader with an anxiety disorder approaching 3-year-olds with an accordion? Wait. That's the other band.

@rebelann I'm not sure yet what I'd aspire to, musically. I want to be a really good rock bassist. And I want to get some of my finger style guitar stuff "out there." But beyond that, I'm not sure. I think I'd like to write more "interesting" songs, like the one from Mark Twain's daughter to Mark Twain, only with more advanced melodies. But I don't think I have any real delusions...delusions of adequacy, maybe.

They're everywhere. I'm probably one of them.

@TheHorse I had a "strong" Irish coffee after lunch, I have not been well functioning all the afternoon. Well, I celebrated St. Patrick's Day and the Irish coffee was very good.

It was actually a fun day overall. I dreaded hearing our lead singer doing songs like When Irish Eyes are Smiling and Danny Boy in his operatic voice, but Guinness helped me survive the ordeal. I got to play Tuneful Nightingale and a pretend Irish song I wrote on mandolin.

It went pretty well. I got some nice compliments on my songs.

I think he thinks he could be Elvis if he wasn't Johnny Cash.

Oh heck yes! I ate so much corned beef last night I think I might explode.

@TheHorse I suspected there'd be corned beef on that menu. Carrots, cabbage, and potatoes too?

The wackiness factor did not overcome the fun factor.

We played a few. Mark, our lead singer, got into opera singer mode for When Irish Eyes are Smiling and a couple of others. I played Tuneful Nightingale and a pretend Irish song I wrote on mandolin. We never got to Drunken Sailor, which I kind of like.

I lived for the moment. And Guinness and corned beef.

It turned to be a lot of fun. But I'm "too stuffed to jump" right now.

Tonight, I will probably be relaxing at home.

The people in green hats were amusing last night. But everyone was nice.
