Odd things found on the street in Portland, OR

Eugene, Oregon
March 26, 2018 11:02am CST
Some people in that city take a very informal approach to recycling or donations. Last week, when I was walking my daughter's dog, I saw this set of knives lying at the curb. This sort of thing happens in some neighborhoods where I live as well. It seemed so strange that I took a photo of them. Are there strange things left out for others to take where you live?

Not in the streets. We cannot leave stuff on the street or near the recycle bins. We can bring stuff to charities.

@JamesHxstatic It's even unsafe. A kid can find those objects, people are careless.

Those would be gone in an instant if left in areas known for criminal activity.

We get the usual sofas, fridges and random furniture dumped regularly in our street. My friend found a knife covered in blood in her front garden. She called the police and they sent a team round!! Turned out it was a prop from the local schools anti knife crime play one of the kids must've nicked it and left it as a prank!

@JamesHxstatic Haha she felt pretty stupid when it turned out half the street had been cordoned off for a fake knife!! The police said she was right to call them though

I haven't seen such a thing where I live.I fear that some bad people would pick up those knives and use them as lethal weapons.

Yes, that is true. Perhaps I should have disposed of them, but had no way to carry them away while walking the dog.

Hmmm... I do not remember people in my neighborhood leaving strange things. Either because some people have taken it before I come out or the garbage truck have taken it away.
