The nights are getting colder - time for fleecy sheets

Our seasons in Western Australia are the opposite to the northern hemisphere so we are now heading into winter. Our deciduous trees are decked out in their autumn colours and the nights are decidedly chilly. Since joining myLot I’ve learnt not to complain about our cold as it is nothing to what some of you experience. We might have a few frosts over the winter but there won’t be any snow or ice storms! However yesterday I changed the bedding and put away the cotton sheets, replacing them with fleecy ones. It was nice to snuggle down last night. Just to keep you up to date, we sold the scarifier, the Ikea wardrobe has its new door and we’re off to load up the caravan to take it to have the damaged awning replaced. Everything is going somewhat to plan at the moment.

Yeah! Don't you dare complain!! On the 1st of May (half way through spring in the UK) I was scraping ice off my car windows before setting off for work!!

@JudyEv It's all a conspiracy. There's something on Cradle mountain the authorities don't want you and Vince to see!!!

Moi? Complain? Not likely matey. I know when I'm well off. I think Tasmania will be more like English weather so I'm packing plenty of jumpers.

I'm jealous that you are heading into cooler weather! As a lover of the cold, I wish I could have cold weather all year long. I hope your damaged awning gets fixed soon and everything stays on track according to plan!

The awning is fixed thanks and we're busy packing the caravan with everything we think we might need and with many things we probably won't need!

Ah yes, you must be in your autumn now as we are in our spring. There is something comforting about closing the curtains when the days get shorter even though I hate the cold. It seems like your plans are taking off. I hope the awning doesn't cost too much to fix.

@JudyEv Cars are expensive. I just had a new cambelt put on the car I bought because the history showed it had never had one. I had it serviced too so I am £300 lighter

The awning was insured although we had to pay a $200 excess but now whatever is wrong with the car may cost a whole lot more to fix.

@sprite1950 Nothing about cars is cheap. May I ask what a 'campbell' is please?

@BelleStarr If you have any sense you expect stuff to take twice as long as you first thought it might.

Sometimes words don't tell the whole story. It took us over an hour to firstly hook the scarifier to the tractor then try to load it on the guy's trailer. Vince had taken the battery out of the tractor because we were going away then he had turned off the fuel as a safety issue, forgot to turn the fuel on again so had to bleed the tractor and so it went. We felt we'd really earnt our money at the end of that little saga. The door was quite difficult to hang too and took longer than expected. Then this morning the car wouldn't start when we needed to take the caravan to town. Hence the 'somewhat to plan' was pretty darned accurate!

After a week of quite high temperatures for the last week, the temperature has dropped rapidly here today. We even have the heat pump on!

In the States I have finally removed that heated winter comforter for good. Now I can finally start complaining about having to use fans and air conditioning, lol.

We have several blankets on our bed in the caravan and a huge comforter under the bed in case we need it at a later date.

Happy everything is working well for you. Talking about snuggling it takes me back to my holiday in Switzerland. The weather was wonderful just right to snuggle under a thick blanket that they provided and the bed was also pretty thick almost 8 inches.

Enjoy the winter. I stay near the tropic of cancer and the mercury is rising day by day. We have occasional rains this time and they bring huge relief.

We might get perhaps six or eight frosts each winter but it rarely gets below zero. A low daytime temperature would be about 16C (60F).
