We've been gifted a day or three but what to do with them?

We were to have left on our holiday today but what with problems with the car we’ll be staying put at least for a few days. It’s like we’ve been gifted a couple of extra days as we had nothing planned for today other than driving. I don’t want to waste these days so I’m making my husband a list!
A day or two ago we made up a casserole trying to use up some of the ingredients in the fridge as we thought we’d turn it off while we’re away. We ended up with enough casserole for a good few meals.
Our friends asked us to dinner on Friday to say farewell and I took them several butternuts that I didn’t want to take with us. She is also minding two pot-plants for me.
Last night we invited the friends back for dinner to help us get rid of some of the casserole seeing we’re not leaving yet. I also asked her why she didn’t bring back my butternuts but of course that was a joke. It’s nice to have friends you can joke with.

Can you cook and mash them for the freezer? Do they freeze well or not? I do not eat them so I am clueless about how to cook them.

I'm sure you'll find things to do before you leave on your trip. I would have gladly minded those butternuts for you

Oh no, not one of those dreaded lists. I am sure that Vince would prefer easily forgotten verbal "suggestions." That is my favorite kind. And I always say "Domani," though I do actually get the task done on a same day basis sometimes.

@JudyEv That seems a bit underhanded somehow.

This wasn't planned, so you're making the best of it:) Butternut squash is a favorite, of most squash lovers! Your friends will enjoy them and think about you, each time they eat one.

Thanks. We're still at home waiting for the car to be fixed but hopefully it will only take a day or two.

Yes some people you can say anything to and they don't take offence. These are the best kind of friends to have and most of my best friends share the same sense of humour as me

@valmnz We skipped Port Arthur last time as Vince thought he'd find it too upsetting though he was thinking more of the penal colony. I see visiting these places more as paying respect to all those who suffered there. For me, it seems the least we can do to pay homage and acknowledge the terrible events both of the past and more recently.

@mlgen1037 Maybe it will happen when you're all a bit older - or perhaps quite a bit older!

Depending how bad your OCD is, it can be a bugger when plans are thrown out the window by unexpected events. It's a shame we can't bank these days somehow to use at a later date when needed.
I am sure your hubby appreciated the list. We chaps hate just sitting around doing nothing.

My OCD is very, very mild really and sometimes I wonder if I have it at all but it seems a good excuse to have up my sleeve if need be. The only date we have locked in is the 4th June ferry trip so we have oodles of time to stuff around till then if that's what is to be.

Yes, we did - and all sorts of other vegies too. Vince rinsed out several jars of spices and sauces too so it was a very flavoursome casserole.
