You know you’re in Australia....

...... when you’re looking for a place called Slaty Creek Reserve, Possum Trak, Cabbage Tree. That’s where we were heading when we got a bit lost. Aren’t those great names? However we ended up on a track with no name.
While getting off-track as we did might sound a bit worrying, once we thought out what we’d do, it was fine. The State Emergency Service (SES) usually deals with helping those affected by natural disasters which I suppose could cover fallen trees.
However if they couldn’t help us we would have unhitched the caravan and driven to the town which was only perhaps 5 kms away and hired or bought a small chainsaw and got ourselves out. The tree wasn’t big but awkwardly positioned so we weren’t able to shift it with the car.
The photo was taken at Eucla in South Australia on the Nullarbor Plain. At that stage we had 1909 kms to go to get to Melbourne. There is a small town there with a nice motel there and a restaurant. I like the markers on the post second from the top showing how far it is to Dave and Andy’s. I have no idea who they are.

Nothing beats Batman though. I still can't believe there is a place in Australia named Batman!

@rakski Yup there is a region in Australia named district of batman and here is the wikipedia article about it
Open main menu Search The Division of Batman is an Australian Electoral Division in the state of Victoria. It takes its name from John Batman, one of the founders of the city of Melbourne. The division was created in 1906, replacing the Division of Norther

We don't get signs like that here in the UK. It's the kind of thing I tend to see only in movies. I'm glad you figured out what to do. I would have bee panicking!

@JudyEv Yes it can be a bit harrowing being in unfamiliar territory.

I do like that whimsical sign. Why, heck, Australia is even bigger than Texas!

It is certainly a big country. We're 3,511 kms from home and the caravan next to us is from Capel just 30km from Donnybrook.

Boy, you never know when a big tree is going to stop the caravan
Very unusual sign and many of the bigger cities like Perth, Sydney and Melbourne were quite some distance away

That's a funny sign indeed!
Daves and Andys.
Is that to say you reached a point of going no further onward? There doesnt seem to be any marker for "straight ahead".

@JudyEv That's a good thing. Any indigenous communities? I heard that the Aussie Indigenous peoples are headhunters.

Friends in Adelaide had a photo of a place called 'Nowhere Else'. I'm hoping we'll come across some more.
