What's your pick of pickles?

I was surprised to find three kinds of pickles in our refrigerator when I started to fix a sandwich for lunch yesterday. There are the sliced dills which I like on sandwiches, those small ones which are quite spicy and the larger dills which really have a lot of flavor. I guess Anne bought those larger ones and they are really quite good.
(The beet is here only because pickled beets are the only beets I like).
Neither I nor Anne like sweet pickles. I used to like what I think were called "bread and butter" pickles when I was a kid.
Maybe you like those giant dill pickles that are sold some places? I never tried one.
Do you have a favorite pickle?

@jameshxstatic I have just bought a large jar of dill pickled gherkins or cornichons or what ever you call them over there. They won’t last long.

Kosher pickles are my daughter's favorite. I like sweet pickles. My grandmother used to make the best pickle relish with the little pearl onions. So tasty.

I have hamburger dills, dill relish, sweet relish, bread and butter , squash relish, pickled eggs and pickles okra. I love pickled beets but I have not bought any in a while, but I ate regular beets a few nights ago.
I am not fond of just sweet pickles.

I like dill relish too, I discovered, but pickled beets are the only ones I like. Golden beets are not too bad though. Squash relish I have never seen, did you make it?

In the US, the kind you mention are available, but the pickles I mean are those in vinegar and spices, not hot really.

@JamesHxstatic , That is what I was feeling! The pickles what I have mentioned are they prepared in US or they are imported stuff?

@AKRao24 The ones from India and other places are imported. Are all those products quite hot to taste?

Sweet pickles would be my choice. I have them in the fridge made from the star fruit, bimblis and mango. Home made all grown in our garden.

@JamesHxstatic Oh, cornichons. Is it different from a gherkin? I think it's called gherkin, which I now suddenly remembered.

@SIMPLYD I think that gherkins are not as spicy as cornichons (maybe).

My mother used to can pickles, all kinds, so the title really drew me in on this topic.
Really dill pickles and the sliced pickles are the same taste, aren't they?
Bread and butter pickles are the same as sweet and sour pickles, aren't they?
I never liked those, dills were my favorite.
I thought that those small dills were sweet pickles, but I could be wrong.
I have pickled red beets for my husband, but I always sliced them for him, as that's the way that he prefers them.

@JamesHxstatic My mother used to do huge batches of them. And she'd wash them all when she got them from the field, in the washing machine.

Yes, that sliced pickle in the pic is just a sliced dill, but the whole dill tastes much more "dilly." Not sure about the bread and butter vs sweet and sour, but it sounds right.
My mother never made pickles. I had some pickled beet at lunch today.

Is prosciutto always very salty? It is very expensive here.

@JamesHxstatic No, good aged prosciutto should not be salty at all. If it is salty, this means that it has not been aged enough number of months.

@JamesHxstatic There was a bagel shop we used to go To especially for their pickles. They make their own bread and butter pickles but store bought makes a pretty good second.

I used to be able to find the sweet ones but I like the spicy ones too. My grandfather used to make the best apple pies and pickles.

My grandfather really made it very delicious. I go to this one place and get it every so often and it is very good. Now, I finally went to a bakery I do not get to and got some other goodies and will eat those eventually.

I like sliced pickles that they call stackers. They need to be dill. Sweet relish is good in some meat salads, though.

Dill, hands down..for some reason I like sweet pickles with cheese sandwiches, but I rarely have them so oh well..It seems silly to buy a jar of pickles just to eat with an ocassional cheese sandwich.

Right, I guess since they are pickled, they would last forever in the fridge, but why take up the space?

I make my own pickles when my cucumbers are ready. However, I am not a huge fan and they often go to waste. I do enjoy a good dill pickle on occasion.

@JamesHxstatic Yes I can and I do. But I do keep some of it because I think the family will use it but soon a couple years pass by and it doesn't taste that great anymore.
