I live in a mobile home. My swamp cooler has not worked in 3 years now and since money is tight I figured I would wing it through the summer.
Ally and the cats are having a tough time of it as well, but cats seem to like it kinda hot so they do not worry me as much as Ally does.
But Ally found out that it is considerably cooler under one of the trees than it is in here so she begs me to let her out. I do not like her to be outside for too long because of ticks but tell me, could you resist that smile on her face?

Ally pretty much gets her way, if she wants to stay outside for a while I let her but usually she wants to come back in to be with me after about an hour.

Same here, I just wish I could tell what she's smiling about sometimes ..... I end up going through all the words I know she knows and when I say Hungry and it happens to be correct she gets really excited, she knows me so well cuz of course I will feed her

Yes, and sometimes she smarter than I would like @DianneN she no longer likes to get wet and yesterday when I wanted to wash her off a little she wouldn't come near me. I don't think I'll get a chance to take those pictures of her playing in the spray anymore. She'll be 8 years old in December.

She knows where to go. Can't you ask your county for cooling assistance? It is way too hot in your area to be without adequate cooling for you and the pets.

@rebelann The pets have no choice though, if they are continually panting it is too hot for them.

The panting helps them regulate their temperature @snowy22315 I just keep the water bowl filled so they get plenty of water.

I think it's like what you get used to when it's bitter cold, you kinda wing it but in my case I simply nap when it's way too hot and that does help. I'm thinking that we really don't do well with either too hot or cold, we simply have to find ways to cope.

Thank you for asking @BelleStarr I suppose if I looked I could find a little help but I just don't like having nosy people in my home. Besides, I am pretty well used to the heat, it's the cold I would need help with if the heater were to break

@rebelann I agree, we go to Florida lol we are cheaters!! Forgive me if this seems too intrusive but isn't there some program in Texas for seniors to get help with fixing their AC? Here we have assistance for heating and cooling, both can be dangerous,

Ticks are pretty much everywhere. They love to hide in trees or tall brush then when they smell the breath of an animal they get ready to jump on them if they get close enough. For the most part though, I think ticks come out more if it's wet out and that's something that is unusual in this area.
This could help to understand those nasty things, they bite people just as they do kritters:
Ticks are prevalent all across the United States, and across the world. Make sure you are aware of the prevalence of ticks, and where they most commonly are found here.

I've read about how those little devils climb up trees then drop on animals or people @jaboUK here there are only the trees people grow in their own yards and most people I know use insecticides so it's likely these vermin have little chance to infest a tree.
They do lay their eggs in the dirt around here and when the conditions become wet and hot they will hatch and thats when I worry the most about Ally, so far she has been tick free, thank goodness.

@rebelann Dogs like to make certain where their owners are. They don't like being left behind, or left outside for too long. If you go anywhere, they want to go too. At least my dogs were that way. You probably wouldn't take your dogs anywhere in the heat you have there.

It is a rectangular home that can be moved if the need arises but it is not as fragile as a tent.

Yeah, I think that's what happened to mine, it's a mastercool but 4 years ago I tried to get someone here to fix it but they all want to charge so much money I didn't bother and the stupid thing finally conked out. So now I just deal with the heat, it's not so bad, I'd rather deal with the heat than the cold.
