Ten Movies "Everybody" Saw -- Except Me: Titanic (#7)

The clouds are already gathering for a stormy day here in the land of the baseball bats. That won't stop this former carrier from her appointed rounds, namely, giving you another classic movie that apparently everyone on earth saw...except me. Here's today's blockbuster. #7: Titanic PLOT: boat sinks. And for that, it cost $220 million to make and grossed over $2.1 billion. Worse, no Maureen McGovern singing "The Morning After"!! For those of you who didn't get that joke, I'll explain it..and, coincidentally, the rationale behind not seeing this epic. In 1972, during the era of "disaster films," there was a movie called The Poseidon Adventure. I did see that. And, honestly, even though it's hokey and dated, I'd still rather hear "The Morning After" (the hit song from The Poseidon Adventure) than "My Heart Will Go On." I'm not much on romance, am I? Oh, here's your trivia: this wasn't the first movie about the Titanic (obviously), which allowed the late Bernard Fox a place in history. He was in the 1997 movie (Colonel Gracie), and in the 1958 film A Night to Remember as the sailor who yelled, "Iceberg dead ahead, sir!" Titanic Directed by James Cameron Released in 1997 Here's "My Heart Will Go On" one more time! No, I'm kidding. I wouldn't do that to you. This is the legendary Pete Seeger doing a folk song about the Titanic that dates to the 20s.

You are not alone, I have not seen Titanic, at least not the one with Di Caprio.

@1hopefulman I had no interested in that movie. I had seen an old version that I liked and I was not tempted to see the one with Di Caprio.

It is a very classical movie but I don't really agree some of the points in this movie. I have watched it a few times already

While I loved the movie the first time I saw it and also enjoyed the song, I don't think I can survive if I listen to that song one more time. What's your reason for not seeing the movie?

I only saw Titanic because there was a nothing night on TV and just let it run (drone). I failed to see what all the hub bub was about. It was a rehash of how many other Titanic movies? I liked The Poseiden Adventure and refused to see the remake.
