Maybe It Wasn't That Great an Idea

When we moved here, I decided that I wanted planters full of red and white geraniums... at last count I think that I had about 15 planters. And I'm pretty sure that I didn't buy any of them thanks to Mother's Day... every year I ask for more planters.
Anyway, it's 33 c today and I just pulled a zillion (or so it seems) geraniums out of the planters so that I save them for next year. Now if it had of been cooler, it might have been easy, but we leave next week and if I want to have them for the new house, I have to prepare them now. At the moment, they are all spread out on the pavement, drying. I need to remove all the soil before I can transfer them to paper bags and I'm exhausted... As much as I love them, I'm glad that I will have to wait until next year to replant! By next spring... I should be ready.
:)
ps... its a good thing that I can't bring the apple trees with me. I'm going to miss those!
While we are on the topic... how is your garden doing??

This has been the second year that our tomatoes have done poorly. Maybe they don't like it here?? Will try again next year in our new garden. A summer without tomatoes... yikes!

Well, they used to be my favorite flower... but I'm not sure I ever want to see another one! But something tells me that I will plant them all again next year!! They come red, white and pink I think. Can't think of any other colors at the moment.

For a long time, the only "garden" we've really had were our trees - luckily they are still thriving without us having to do much to them - even in this heat. I only started a "real" garden late spring by the sago palm my dad planted for us when we moved here. It's a teeny space near the front door - and thank goodness because that is all I can manage right now - it has been a good starter for me and they are doing well!

@Hate2Iron Yep, having a garden is a lot of work. I learned that for sure.

After all the work required this year, have to admit, just having fruit trees would be a whole lot easier that the one we have at the moment. We won't have the space to have a big garden and I'm happy about that at the moment. ;)

That will be sad for sure. Our 4 apple trees were here when we arrived and too big to move, but we did plant a new sour cherry tree... but we are leaving that one for the new owners. But I do want to plant dwarf apple and some crab apple trees next year!!

I have been lucky... when it rains here it really comes down and fills our water barrel. It's almost empty at the moment though :(

My garden isn't mine. It belongs to the property I rent from. It is beautiful btw.

My herbs have done really well. I have a few cucumbers and finally setting some tomatoes. I was late with them. One of my neighbors was retired from the part department. Everyone brought him their geraniums in the fall. He took cuttings, rooted them, and sold them for 50 cents a piece.

The last time I brought in the geraniums was about 4 houses ago (I think). I grabbed them just before the frost hit and I think my fingers almost fell off from the cold. This time I'm working in temps that are so hot that it is exhausting! It does beat the cold though!!

My garden is a shame. Thanks to Luna, the few plants that I have saved are put away until she is older.

My garden? Well my garden isn't doing well at all as my new puppy is occupying most of my time. I had been planning to buy new plants but the plan is still a plan until now,
