Is anyone else here old enough to remember the song "Turning Japanese"? I think it came out in the '80s, but I'm not sure.
Anyway, I think I'm turning Indian or Thai. I am addicted to curry. I like it hot, spicy, and red.
Last night I had leftover Thai curry, and it was delicious. It was a beef AND chicken red curry with pumpkin, and I added red onion, yellow pepper, and a bit of water as I was cooking it up. Egads was it good.
What did you have for dinner last night? Are you going to have to change your nationality? Maybe next month I'll turn Italian, but my last pasta kick was a couple of months ago.

I was taken by my brother to an Indian restaurant here a couple of months ago. I think I have never eaten better food. But I don´t have any possibility of becoming addicted: it was much too expensive

@TheHorse That´s a very good price. In this restaurant, the waiter ever placed a special red dot in my front. And he knew exactly where every dish came from. I´m sure that I will not go there again.

Back in 1980 that was one of my favorites. Had to make my kids listen to it a couple months back. My wife doesn't remember it at all. Granted she grew up in Quebec and I don't think it played much there.

Yeah that song came out during the Japanese economic boom when a lot of Japanese companies really made it big in the world market. I love foods that's hot and spicy, Thai is very hot lol, Indian has more spice variations that I like to at times experiment on. You were very creative with that meal.

@TheHorse yes it was also the time when Japanese made began to compete with audio, video and speaker components, that's why most of the vintages I could buy here are Sony, Aiwa, Sanyo, JVC, Toshiba, Akai and Sansui came up with very good ones still in demand today, American and European speakers seemed to have vanished and and hard to find here during these times.

@louievill Japanese receivers from the late '70s and early '80s are held in pretty high regard. Even the Sherwood S-7100A, from the early 1970 (I just got mine back) is a well-made Japanese unit. Now, there are still some good vintage American and European speakers (AR, Harbeth, KLH, Spendor, Rogers, Advent, etc.) out there, but the Vietnamese in the Bay Area are gobbling them up up and bringing them to the blossoming "middle class" in their Country.

I change my nationality once in a month with indulgence in Pasta. Most of the time, I keep switching between cuisines from different part of India- South Indian, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati.....and so on.

@arunima25 If someone here had a "Indian curry regional cook off," with curries from different regions, and plenty of rice, chutneys and yogurt on the side, I'd probably go.

Last evening I made crepes filled with mushrooms and ham in a creamy white sauce. Two days ago I prepared stuffed hot Italian peppers and they were really hot, we call those peppers "Italian Roulette" (from Russian Roulette), you never know how hot they can be.

@anya12adwi Heh. I can't smell it yet. I'm going out with a friend for Japanese food today at Noon. Maybe the first curry of the morning will pique my appetite.
