How I increased my MyLot earnings by 25% today!

Occasionally, I buy things I don't need, like My Larrivee LS-05 mahogany acoustic guitar, which I acquired at Guitar Center many years ago (2001 or so) for $1000 (including case) and rarely use. But other times, I am quite frugal. I can't help it: I like saving money. Today, I am going to have a good day on MyLot. I will make about 80 cents. But I was not satisfied with that. When I took my "dry" garbage out to the dumpster just now, I realized that the bags (from Trader Joe's) were in no way sullied. Each of them is worth a dime. So I held onto them as I dumped the garbage into the dumpster. Cha-ching! I had saved 20 cents. If you add that to the 80 cents I will make on MyLot today, that yields a 25% increase in my earnings for sitting on my ass and doing nothing. Are you similarly frugal? Do you make good decisions that lead to wealth? I have my eyes on an Eichler home here in the Bay Area. They sell for only about $800,000 and are quite spacious. What are some of the ways you are frugal? I will attach a picture of my Larrivee LS-05 acoustic guitar, which is actually one of my favorite guitars for recording music.

I work in a hotel and people are always leaving stuff behind. I bring home shampoo, shower gel, conditioner and even the occasional cologne. The items that go into the lost and found we get after a certain amount of time if it isn't claimed by the owner. I got a chair from it yesterday, but I let someone else have it.

@TheHorse LOL No, I'll be keeping that. I did find a $100.00 bill in the hallway once. Spent it!

Do you mean that you damp the garbage and keep the bag? We MUST close the bags and put the bag inside the collecting bins.

@TheHorse The paper boxes cannot be thrown in the bins, you recycle paper separately, same for the cans and tins, glass and PET plastic bottles. It is annoying but this helps.

Oh, that's different from here. Yes, if it's totally dry stuff (empty cereal boxes and such), I'll sometimes keep the bag.

I can save money and I don't really need much to be happy with what I have. I save up to 100 $ every month, sometimes more, but I usually spend those money every 3 or 4 months for my wife. I love her smile when I surprise her like that .

Do you have to pay for bags when you shop at Trader Joe's? We don't have that here in NYC but I know in some cities, like in Washington DC for example, you are charged for bags.

@lovebuglena I've actually remembered to bring old paper bags the last two times I went shopping. Usually I don't. It won't change my standard of living, but it feels like I'm being "green."

Yes, I think it's $00.10/bag. I notice that they sometimes "forget" to charge. TJs workers tend to be pretty nice.

I am thrifty most of the time. But there has been a few occassional times when I bought something without much thought and later regretted. But that is very rare.

Well sometimes if a product is of 70 INR and a similar one of 90 INR, I would opt for 70 one. But many a times, I am not that frugal.

I think we are frugal. We buy bulk if it's cheaper and always compare the various sizes and prices. And we don't waste much.

I am INCESSANTLY and HABITUALLY frugal. For crying out loud, you don't even want to know how much time I spend in the toilet paper aisle calculating price and square footage on toilet paper. My wife usually goes to the women's section and spoils all of my savings while I calculate a 10th of a cent per square foot.
