Unusually sensitive nose. Blessing? Or curse?

They keep raising the rent at my apartment complex. Both me and my pretend son's mom are getting ticked off. Today, I actually checked out a condominium that I could easily afford.
It had vaulted ceilings, like my current place, and a nice view. Plus it had almost twice as much space as my current apartment. But it didn't smell right. I couldn't tell if it was something coming from the ground, or something else. But I knew I couldn't live there.
Damn my sensitive nose! When I go hiking, or visit my cabin in Montana, I savor the good smells. Same with the various curries here at my apartment complex. But I've also accepted or rejected humans, even in dating situations, based on smell.
Do you have a sensitive nose? If so, is it a blessing or a curse for you?

I also have a sensitive nose and can smell bad breath. I keep a good distance from many people. I don't know how other people could put up with it.

@TheHorse I would take a seat at the back of the class. I hate people that get too close when they speak. I like some space.

@1hopefulman This is a preschool teacher! She is supposed to have kids in her lap during curcle time, kids snuggling with her when she reads to them, etc. I don't know how she'll do if she doesn't address the issue.

That happened to me recently at the preschool. A new teacher had such stinky breath I literally recoiled reflexively from her as she was speaking to me. If I were a kid, I would never let her read a book to me unless she was at least seven feet away.

@TheHorse ......Doesn't sound like much humanity in that sentence.

@TheHorse The worst thing you can do to a dog is to rub their nose in their poop! Dogs have very sensitive senses of smell and rubbing their noses in their poop is like shoving our heads in the toilet after we've used it! Sorry if I'm a bit out of context, but I feel awful for the way that some people who claim to have sensitive noses will treat animals who have the same situation and their humans choose to treat them in such a horrible manner when the animal makes a "mistake" in the wrong place.

Finding a cheap place to live in California is like trying to find a winning lottery ticket worth 750 million dollars! Unfortunately even the "cow towns" like @TheHorse mentioned aren't cheap anymore. I live 30 miles outside of Paso Robles California which is more or less a cow town and the rents there aren't cheap either. Your only hope for a cheap place to live in California is to share the house with 20 other people! A one bedroom starts at $1500 for a dump and works its way up to over $7500 for something worth inviting company into. The only reason I can afford living here is that I inherited my Mom's place in 2000, and unfortunately it burned down almost a year ago. I'm having to fight to get reimbursed for the loss because the fire was caused by a major company.

I don't think my nose is more sensitive than the average. I can't stand BO though.

My husband used to say that my nose was too sensitive. But I have lost my sense of smell years ago and now nothing bothers me.
It is not good when I want to smell the lilacs or the cooking smells.
But on the other end, I appreciate it when others around tell me they smell a skunk.
But it is dangerous too as I could not smell the gas leak if it happened.

I do. I have also rejected people based on smell. Bad breath in a small room is absolutely hell for me. I cannot tolerate strong perfumes and I can smell make up that women wear.
Now you know why I opened my own business, Called Sunshine`s homestead creations, (Alex said I can use the name) I use all my products, not all the scents though.
The homestead has been so dry when I walked yesterday in th fields I could smell the few pines I have.

Was the place cleaned, did the landlord know anything about the weird smell? I feel like all places have a weird smell before you settle in. Plus wax burners really help with smells haha
I do not have a sensitive nose, but my mom does. She can tell what kind of meat people are grilling a blocks down.

@TheHorse Many times, I remember the recent one when we all were attending this wedding with lots of floral decoration in room with few leaves. There was this slight unusual smell ( not good or bad) of one of the leaves used in decoration. It was too mild and no one noticed but it bothered me as I was not sure about the source of it. So finally me niece asked me to come and smell the decoration. When we went near many could smell it. It was so mild but still I could distinguish it from those of roses and jasmine. I was getting irritated with it as it was not so pleasant like those flowers.

Yes I have a sensitive nose. I think it's a blessing so that we can avoid bad smelling by covering our nose with Hankins. Sensitive nose also help us to enjoy the good smell.

For me it's a curse when I smell a bad smell, I simply cannot take it and get out of the room. It's also a curse when i smell so delicious food and I get hungry but have no enough money for that.

It can be both a blessing and a curse. A good aroma helps heal nerves and gives a good feeling and bad smell is indeed irritating and therefore a curse.
