Flooded

I just got back from church a little bit ago, petrified because it was so dark and it was raining, and I don't see very well with my cataracts in the rain or dark. I heard the rain coming down while I was in church, and I knew I had my windows open. It was unbearably hot. Yes, I consider 90 unbearably hot, especially in a hot car with the windows rolled up.
When I got to church, I left the windows down, not realizing we were in for a serious storm tonight. Yes, I saw the lightning bolts on the TV weather map for today and tomorrow, but I didn't expect what we got.
When I came out of church there was a light show going on in the heavens, that continued my whole way home and has stopped, but it's still raining. I ran into three flooded streets on my way home and didn't think my little car was going to make it through, but thankfully it did. My seats also were dry, for which I was thankful.
I breathed a heavy sigh of thanks to God for getting me home safe. I've also sent an e-mail to my pool friend and told her I wasn't going to be at the pool tomorrow. This rain is supposed to continue all night, which means more flooded streets. I'm going to play it safe.
So, instead of going to bed, I'm going to spend some time here. I wasn't here much today, with working on Thread of Evidence, and also watched a little bit of TV before I left for church. So, I have a lot of notifications to go through.
I don't think the weather people were expecting the flooding we got in a very short time.
I don't know how long I'm going to be up, but I'm going to try to make a dent in the notifications. How was your day/night? Thanks for reading.

It was a lighter rain on the way home than it had been while I was in church, but it was very dark and with the glare from headlights and streetlights on the wet streets, it made driving difficult. There were times when I couldn't tell if I was in the right lane. So, I was very happy to pull into a parking space in front of my building.

It looks okay from where I'm sitting, but I'm sure there are still some places that are quite wet from last night's rain. We're supposed to get more today, and it looks like it, but I don't know when it will happen. Hopefully, it won't be as bad as last night.

@Courtlynn The inside wasn't even wet, which was a huge surprise with how heavy it rained. That car is low to the ground, being small as it is, so I'm very happy this morning it was running as good as always.

@just4him our car flooded months ago, with windows and doors shut by the ground flooding, so I am very surprised yours didn't with the window open. its good it didn't though!
Welcome.

Rain took a vacation here and we had a peaceful evening and night, I slept like a baby
. I know how you feel, it happened to us too, leaving the house with open windows and storms coming while we were out. Usually is the kitchen the one that takes the hit
.
I'm glad you got home safe, take care!

@just4him thank you! Here is better to have the windows closed when it's raining, sometimes it gets also very windy and all the rain gets through the window. But we are careful... usually
.
Just got back from a walk in the park with my wife and my son, gotta get him to sleep, he is sooooo tired

Thank God you reached safely. It could be quite worrisome when roads start getting flooded, as we have observed in many cities/villages in India this year.

@andriaperry We've got more flash flooding in the forecast for tomorrow. Supposed to rain today and looks like it will start any minute. It's dark out for early morning.

I hope it's not as flooded tomorrow.
