Dandy dresses for dogs

Can you guess what the people manning this tent were selling? It looks like party dresses for little girls doesn’t it? But the entire display was of items for man’s best friends – dogs. There were dog treats, bandannas, leads and clothing. I checked out the price on one of the frilly outfits and if I remember correctly it was around $35.
I don’t mind dogs in coats in winter but honestly, what self-respecting dog wants to be seen in a tutu? Do you dress up your dog? It seems to me that it’s just another way of parting an animal lover from their money.

I would surely like to have Luna´s fur coat in winter. She does not need clothes and I´m sure she´d be very uncomfortable.

Yes, they had hats there too and some very fancy collars.

My dogs have t-shirts for winter all except Duke. You can not find anything to fit an 80 pound doberman. So if it gets real cold he has one of my old sweat shirts.

@JudyEv I cant see spending that much money either. They are content with their natural fur coat. At least most of the time.

Coats or raincoats to keep dogs warm/dry/insect-free are fine but dressing them in human-type clothes like frilly skirts is pretty silly in my book.

And there are plenty of dog lovers who will willingly part with their money to dress their dogs in one of those outfits. I never dressed my dog in anything. They were bigger dogs with good fur coats, so didn't need anything more in winter.

Each to their own ...and this is just my opinion ….I don't think that dogs should be dressed up in 'proper clothes'. A coat that keeps them warm and dry in bad weather is one thing but ….well ...there are limits.

I completely agree. I think it is demeaning to the dog and doesn't say much about the owner except perhaps that they have too much time on their hands. .

The are cute. But I am one not for it, but there are many people who would be glad to pay it.

Some like to dress up their dogs but I wouldn't be one of them.

I don’t dress up my dog since I live in a hot and humid country.
