Last nights fix-it project

We all have skills. One of my skills is breaking CD jewel cases. Sometimes I break them when I first open a new CD. Other times I break them later, when I put too much torque on one side while opening them. Last night, before my music gig, I decided to try out my new superglue on a couple of CD cases I'd broken. I figured that if I was gone, I woudn't be tempted to "test" my work, re-breaking the cases. It appears my repairs were successful. Both cases are holding together fin this morning. Are there certain objects you're skilled at breaking? In another post, I'll discuss my sordid history with plastic forks.

You just had to go and bring up plastic forks. We use plastic forks in the camper, the heavy duty kind you can wash and use several times. Unless you're me, that is. I've lost count of the time I've had to hunt down a errant fork tine so that I wouldn't accidentally eat it.

Yep. Me too. I worry about what a plastic tine would feel like coming out the other end.

I don't think I break too many things. You've probably put a spell on me now and I'll start breaking objects left, right and centre.

I'm so sorry. Do you still listen to "CDs"? If so, open the cases from the very middle and you'll avoid the torture I've subjected myself to.

@JudyEv If you open them from the edges, as I tend to do, you'll apply too much rotational torque, and the dang thing will snap in the middle. Do you know the word "torque"? My guess is yes. @Vandana7, @Maluse, and others have been discussing that word.

@vandana7 It's actually an album that pays homage to her. It's some of her famous songs played on traditional Indian instruments. No vocals.

Don't worry. She is safe with me. Oh, I'm listening to that CD right now.

I do not break objects but I tend to twist the straps of my handbags.

@TheHorse I really cannot understand, I have to straight the straps all the time.

I wonder which movements lead to the twisting.

@TheHorse Just slow and easy. New ones are the worst as they seem stiffer.

@wolfgirl569 Yes, plus they have that tape along the sides. That's done me in a few times.

What is your secret? I still feel more comfortable dumping an LP out of its "jacket" I guess that makes me "old."

I remember breaking them all the time. I haven’t used a CD in years.

I've gotten a bit better. But I'd still say that no CD case is safe from me.

What's your main source of music these days? I try to stay low tech.

@TheHorse Apple Music and Pandora streamed through Alexa when I’m home and through my phone and car when I’m driving.

Heh. I hadn't thought of that. I was implicitly (in my post picture) taking credit for breaking the David Crosby CD case. But that one actually came to me broken.

I'm glad you repairs are holding. Great news! I have a knack for breaking the pump thingy on bottles of lotion, hair gel, etc. When I first open that type of bottle, I guess I twist it wrong. I'm not even sure how I manage to break them, but I do.

Heh. That's a good example. I also break the tops on my Elmer's wood glue. I guess I forget to wash the top off enough and the thing gets glued to itself.
