I should know better, or Tales of a Drowsy Housewife

Again, I woke up, not able to go back to sleep. It was about the time of the clock change for daylight savings time.
When I laid in bed about an hour I decided I should get up and be productive. Also eat a snack.
My husband has wanted me to do a homemade version of a cranberry bread like we bought at the store last week. I figure a raisin bread recipe, with cranberries instead, would do just fine.
I got some of my yeast out of the refrigerator. I figured it would be dead, I have had it so long, but it surprised me when I proofed it.
I got my bread machine out, and was walking back and forth through the kitchen getting ingredients.
Wouldn't you know it, the sleeve of my housecoat caught on a glass container on a shelf and knocked it down.
So, once I had the ingredients measured into the bread machine, I had to sweep up broken glass.
I KNOW
that cooking in a housecoat is hazardous in many ways. I really like short sleeves when I cook.
Now some of you are going to get on my case about the bread machine.
I like it to mix up the bread because I add less flour in, because I am not kneading it. The ingredients get mixed more thoroughly as well.
I do not like to bake the bread in it. It gets a hole in the bottom from the paddle of the machine. I will take this dough out and form it into two loaves when it has done all the cycles in the machine.
That is my mix of the old and the new.
I could go back to bed for a while.

I did not have a strong heritage of making dough by hand, so it was okay with me to use the bread machine. For you, I imagine it would be just as well to make the dough by hand. I took a nap, and now I am enjoying my freshly baked bread.

Annoying when you break a glass on the kitchen floor
I guess you needed a few more items on your trips to the kitchen like a broom and dust pan, ugg. I would of gone back to bed after that
In any event hope your bread was tasty!

I got the bread started, then cleaned up the mess. All in all I have made three kinds of tasty bread today.

I think you shouldn't just blame it on the sleeve of your housecoat ,the lack of sleep was partly responsible for the broken glass container .

I am sure being sleepy is why I was not as careful as I should have been.

I like my bread machine but seldom use it. Hope you can get a nap.

I did get an early nap. I am going to bed early tonight. I had not used my bread machine since we moved here three years ago. Today it got a workout.

Usually I just punch the button for dough only, then I would pull the dough out, shape it, let it rise again and bake it. It works for me.
