Would You Like To Go for A Second Time To A Restaurant Like This?

Last Saturday, some of us HS batchmates based here in Legazpi City , met at another Korean Restaurant. It was the post birthday treat of the batchmate who works as an officer in a government agency.
This Korean restaurant is different compared to the first one I posted about last July.
The place is a bit dark and smoky. As you can see in the picture, each table has a hanging tube-like thing that can absorb the smoke from what we are cooking at the grill on our table. But despite that, my eyes are teary from the smoke and it is hot despite the air-conditioner.
The food was great though. We ate unlimited grilled pork, chicken and pork with side dishes of sliced cucumber , kimchi and the like. But the best one is the beef, so tender and tasty.
We would wrap the meat in lettuce and put some condiments and sauce and wow, they are delicious!
When we were by ourselves minus the celebrator, we said to one another that the place isn’t nice, though the foods were great , so we will not go to it the second time around.
However, it was a happy occasion once again, because we had lots of laughter and stories shared.
Would you go to a place like that again if you have experienced that it is hot and smoky , but the food is great?

A hot restaurant doesn't sound bad to me
In my country it is cold outside and it feels great to enter a hot room, but your climate is different from ours, so it is a different situation. I think that I would find the smoke annoying, but if the food is really great I might still go back.

@SIMPLYD When we travelled around in Asia it was a different experience for us. It was so hot outside, and I learned to appreciate A/C. In my own country we have the opposite problem and we need big coats in the winter.

@Porcospino I think, when your climate is the opposite of what country you will visit, you will not like it indeed.

That was funny of you.
Really, they threw the foods under the table. Oh, my! That's bad of them.
Another reason why I don't like that kind of Korean restaurant is because you have to grill the meats yourselves. It is tiring grilling them with all the smoke coming from the grill. I actually, grilled only a few, because I was constantly wiping my sweat from the heat and my eyes from the smoke.

@SIMPLYD That reminds me when I was in Thailand. We went to some sort of food district where you choose the meat or seafood and you cook them yourself. For eat all you can meat it was 299 baht and 399 for eat all you can seafood. The problem was that you won't know what the meat was because the marking tag was in Thai. Since I and a female companion were allergic to seafood, we just contented ourselves with chicken in one table. The others chose seafood and because everyone filled their plates to the brim, they secretly threw under the table those which they could not consume because you have to pay for leftovers. I ended up hungry when we reached the condo where we stayed. I pretended to buy medicine at the nearby 7-Eleven but actually I bought a piece of banana and a bottle of water.

Maybe next time you go to that resto, the attire for women would be spaghetti blouse and shorts and sando and city shorts for the men hahaha!

Thats the problem with Korean grill restaurants they at times could not solved the smoke emitted from the grills. I think that they need good ventilation because in the end when the place is filled with smoke its not appetising and appealing to the customers anymore. Maybe in Korea its not much of an issue because its cold in their place and the effects of smoke doesn't affect them.

I agree.
In Korea, the weather is cold. That is why they don't mind the hotness inside the restaurant.
But here in the Philippines, which is hot outside, you expect to go to a restaurant that is cold.
Yes, they must have a good ventilation, maybe two or 3 exhaust fans and another air-conditioner inside.

@sunrisefan The Samgyupsal Korean BBQ at the mall we manage has on its outside has Al Fresco veranda with tables with grills facing the sea. Some likes there specially when there is a band.

For restaurants which feature "cook-your-own-food", it would be good if they are "al fresco".

It would have been nice if they played the song "Smoke gets in your eyes" in the background :)

@SIMPLYD In that case, we'll change the song to "crying in the smoke" instead of "crying in the rain" :)

Really. You don't mind that the restaurant is smoky , dark and the tables seem small for a group gathering and cannot be moved because the hanging exhaust is at the center of the grill of each table.
Well, the food is great and that's what is a good reason for you guys. But not for women, because we would like to be comfortable not perspiring when eating.

@ilocosboy Yes. We hated it when we went out when we smelled smoke in our clothes and hair.

Maybe because I'm a man so smoke really don't bother me.

@anya12adwi But I think if this Korean restaurant is in a cold country, this will be welcomed well by patrons.

I think I went to a place like this. It wasn't bad at all. I enjoyed the food and the smoke from cooking the meat at our table was not bad.

It means that that restaurant knows how they can control the smoke inside the restaurant, unlike this particular restaurant we went into last Saturday.

Is there no restaurant there that offer both of that in your place? Here in our province alone, we have a lot.

You nailed it.
We smelled like smoked fish and meat when we finally went out of the restaurant.
We put perfume while inside the car already.
You really live the foods, because yu would still go back.
Take note that in our country the weather is hot so we prefer cold.reataurants that is why we don't like this hot place.
