Arrive Alive

I am that kind of driver. I will very patiently wait behind a slow vehicle until it is very safe to pass. I will just relax and not get bent out of shape.
I went to another town to have coffee with my friend.Traveling home we have two lane rural roads and also two lane national highways. I drive the speed limit.
So, with an oncoming car in the other lane, I am surprised to see a car whip out and pass me. The driver barely had to to regain his lane before whipping back in line to miss the oncoming traffic.
I plan to arrive alive and will take calm deep breaths and relax. I will not enjoy playing risky games behind the wheel..
I hope you are alive and stay that way.
Edited: Another reason to take your time is that in our area there is a lot of wildlife that will suddenly show up and run into the road. Especially deer. Hitting a deer can ruin your car and kill both you and the deer if you hit wrong. I want to go slow enough to see and avoid them.

I drive the same way as you but others take chances. It can be scary.

I was sure the person who passed me last night was going to cause oncoming traffic to have a problem, swerve or wreck.

I don't take chances when I'm driving, either. I'd much rather arrive alive.

Yes! what is so important that you have to drive like a crazy person? The total difference in your on the road time is about five minutes. The speeder gets ahead, then is stopped by a light or a round about. They get slowed down anyway.

Too bad a lot of other drivers aren't like you. They all seem to want to get there first.

I am certainly not the road rage type.

Exactly. I caught up with this one about six miles later, at the roundabout.

The way I understand it you have very narrow roads, too.

We actually had a car pass us on the right side, driving on the berm of the highway one time. He was going fast enough he was out of sight in no time also.

That happened to us when there was a wreck on the interstate, if the guy had not did this he would have killed us and many more

@andriaperry People do not like to slow down for anything, even wrecks on the road. @wolfgirl569 I am always glad for highways that have wide shoulders, some do not. I am glad you were not hit or anything.

@GardenGerty I did not even know he was coming until he zoomed past. We never heard of any wrecks from that thankfully.

I agree. Arriving alive is the best way. I've hit a deer. It was the middle of the night and I was returning home from work when suddenly the deer was in my headlights. Being night, I didn't see him until then and there was no option but to hit him or her. It did a lot of damage to the car but I was all right.
I've seen people like that passing with traffic coming. My heart almost stops when I see it. I don't want to be a part of someone else's foolish accident.

They are hard to see even in the daylight. I am glad you were okay. I have never hit one, but I have had family members hit several.

Yes, they do. Maybe artificial intelligence would be better.
