Freezing morning and warm afternoons

We have been having over night lows around 27 (-2C) getting close to 60 (14C) sunny degrees in the afternoons. Anne is still fighting an upper respiratory infection and working on two new art quilts, so I decided to take the camera and go over to the nearby Delta Ponds, get a walk in and check out the wild life.
I did not see much initially, but on my way back to the car, I spotted a Great Blue Heron stalking his fish dinner in the shallows not far away. I took a number of photos and managed to get one just as he lifted his foot to take a step.
I also went to a spot on the Willamette River, not far away and got some great shots of some European Widgeons (ducks) and a Great Egret. I will do a post showing those, I think.

@MALUSE Yes, he was across the channel from me, but I had a 42X lens on my Nikon.

The photo was well taken ! It seems that the Delta Ponds are frequented by varieties of water birds.

@jameshxstatic That’s like our weather too, and we also have heron in the river that flows near our house. They’re lovely to watch.
