Borrowed my moms car and made a huge shopping trip

My mother told me I could borrow her car to go get groceries. I rarely ever borrow anything from anyone so I was nervous. She has a little Dodge Avenger.
I’m used to my minivan so I wasn’t sure how much I would be able to fit but I managed to fit everything then just barely was able to fit it all in my chest freezer and refrigerator.
I haven’t been able to find frozen spinach since September. Once school started back up I had to go shopping on the weekend when the stores are packed and shelves are bare. So today being a Monday there was spinach and I grabbed 10 bags.
When I stopped for a minute as I was leaving wal-mart to check and make sure nothing was fallen off the bottom of the cart I apologized to the guy who had to go around me. He said it’s okay and told me I have a brake light out. I said “on my vehicle?” and then he explained it was because I stopped suddenly. I felt like such an airhead and told him how I was thinking to myself that I would have to tell my mom since it’s her car. I had assumed he saw me driving earlier and noticed the brake light.
On the way home I stopped and filled her tank. It was on half before I put gas in. She told me it barely takes any gas and not to bother putting any in but it was nice of her to let me drive it so filling the tank was the least I could do.
I spent $380 on everything and it should last us a month or more! I stocked up as much as I could so I wouldn’t have to go out again not knowing when I will have my van fixed.
When I got home my son said it looked like a buffet. He was excited over me getting him grapes, egg nog and pepperoni pizza.
My kids were arguing at dinner and since my daughter was mad at her brother she grabbed an extra slice of pizza and ate it. She didn’t eat it all and asked if I wanted the rest and said she only took it because she was mad. I told her that’s awful that kind of behavior leads to obesity. She stormed out of the room and said “What is wrong with you judging me?”. Teens ugh!
Anyhow I got started on a little bit of Christmas presents as you can see in the photo. I also got my son a Fallout 76 poster and me 4 pair of sweatpants to lounge around the house these cold days.
My mother’s birthday is coming up the first week of December so I bought her an air purifier and filter replacement for her combined birthday and Christmas present. She’s been having a really hard time with asthma and mentioned wanting to get one.

@sofssu that s a really nice way to look at things. I am sure there are many things here that we have that you guys don't as well. We have to import many things from other countries since it is so cold here much of the year to grow anything. A lot of people do have gardens when it is warm enough then they can it or freeze it to last as long as possible through the winter months.

@maezee yep I love Aldi's! I bought my boyfriend two flavors of coffee for his birthday in October. One was bourbon and the other was Bacon. I don't think he has used them yet as he isn't as big a coffee drink as I was. So these two new flavors I bought for my dad for Christmas.

@sallypup absolutely! She lives across the street which makes it that much easier. However my sister's car broke down the same day mine did so between the three of us there is only one car. I usually won't even ask anyone for rides I will walk to town in the cold to get what I need. But she offered to let me borrow it and I figured it would be a good idea to stock up as much as I could in case I can't get out again for some time!

@sallypup I just wish I lived closer to Walmart and Aldi's in times like this. A 35+ Mile drive for a stock up on groceries stinks. At least within a mile walk I can get things at a little grocery store if I have to. I cost per item is about $2 more then Walmart and Aldi's so I don't shop there unless I absolutely have to.

@Courtlynn absolutely! She seems surprised by it so I assume my sister never does that when she borrows her vehicles.

@Courtlynn she is 36 and a few years back my dad bought her a van and he pays the insurance. Her boyfriend now pays for the repairs like new tires etc but my father did before that

That was nice of that your mom let you use her car to go shopping I am sure you are glad that it is done. We went for the first time since my boyfriend had his knee surgery on Saturday. I am sure you are hoping it does not take to long to get your van fixed.

@Tina30219 wow that would be a long time then since you have been out as well. Did you have a ton of things to get as well? The next time my boyfriend is over (probably tomorrow night) we will order the parts I need online and then the following weekend hopefully he will be able to work on it.

@JudyEv I hope so too. I have one that runs in our living room which is the room where the smell of must from our cellar is the worst. Which reminds me I need to go down in my cellar and bail the water out that is in the old sump pump hole.

@thislittlepennyearns not one piece no but if she gets mad all the time and stuffs herself with food out of spite that isn't good eating habits and can lead to being overweight which isn't good for ones health.
