Preparing for Thanksgiving

Today my daughter didn’t have school.
My son didn’t have any live classes so we sat and did the assigned work ourselves and finished up the school day at 2:45. He has one history lesson and two grammar lessons to complete over Thanksgiving break.
I got a nice surprise today when there was a knock on the door. A friend of mine baked me mini cupcakes. It was so unexpected and so kind of her. I pushed them close together to get most of them in the photo that you see. She said she never gets to see me so she decided to bake me something.
My son didn’t like the grapes I bought the other day so I tried a new recipe to dip fruit in. It was called Spiced caramel apple dip. It had so much sugar it was gritty and gross.
Yesterday I received a $5 Amazon e-gift card from Crowdtap and today I received a $15 Amazon e-gift card from mypoints.
Tomorrow I will be going to my moms for a Thanksgiving get together. She never lets me know a time ahead of time so I made food I could make ahead of time that won’t need to be kept warm.
I made anti-pasta salad, Crispy chocolate & caramel pie, and Veggie Tortilla Roll ups. I cannot wait to eat tomorrow. I’m hoping the new recipes I tried (the food in this paragraph) will be tasty.

If you still leftover grapes you can try a not too sweet very simple recipe. I give you the link to the recipe, this is how I recycle grapes. This recipes calls for red grapes, but you can use any kind of grapes or even other fruits.

Everybody in the US I know are busy with their thanksgiving preparation but not my family in New Jersey. I asked them this morning if they have plans for the thanksgiving and they said they will all be working.

@toniganzon that is to bad they have to work on a holiday When I worked in a hospital I always had to work holidays too. Pretty much anyone in the police force, medical field and retail will all be working today.

@toniganzon that's understandable so maybe them going to work on Thanksgiving allows someone who really wants to celebrate it to have that holiday off

@shaggin Right but since they're really Filipinos and not Americans, they don't care much. Christmas is more important since we really don't celebrate thanksgiving at all.

I cooked the turkey, potato salad, all the eggs to make stuffed eggs and fr the giblet gravy. I made a huge bowl of ambrosia and I got the cornbread cooked for my dressing I will make in the morning. I may not make any desserts

@andriaperry my mother is making the turkey and ambrosia. Do you use jello in yours? If so what flavor? Is this dinner just for you and Tony or are you having guests over?

@andriaperry you will have a lot of leftovers from the turkey then. I'm sure you are resourceful and will think of meals to create with the leftover turkey

@Madshadi my boyfriend is at his grandmother's house. He's been texting me a lot. His last text was how thankful he is for me lol I think he's a little tipsy. It's nice to be thought of when I am not there though. My kids and I are going to my parents house at 6 for dinner.

@cintol this isn't actually a neighbor. Just a Facebook friend. I don't even know her that well so I thought this was incredibly sweet of her. I am going to make some homemade things for Christmas and will have to make sure to make an extra one up for her to leave outside her door!

@shaggin oh that sounds like fun, and great gifts.
I've wanted to try making candles but am afraid to fail, like with everything. I've only made one once back in 1st grade for a class thing we did where we put different color sand in a little jar and then wax on top for the candle part, but we obviously had help.

@Courtlynn that sounds neat I know what you mean with the different colored sand in a jar but have never seen by with a candle on top. I made a few candles many years ago. Some went okay some didn't I have about 10-20 pounds of wax though that has been sitting around for all these years so I might as well use it! If I mess it up oh well they won't get a candle and they won't know they were going to get one so they won't be disappointed anyway. If you were closer we could try making them together

@Dyvette16 it would be a lot of many to have so many sprinkles and things to make everyone a different color but it would be fun to make them that colorful.
