Ignorant myLotters

Not many know where cashew nuts come from. Let me explain.
The cashew tree - we have a couple of them - produces cashew apples and attached to them, as you will see in the image are cashew seeds. These cashew seeds are roasted and the shells thrown away. The kernels that you get after this process are what you eat - cashew nuts.
The shells are used to extract oil which is used in paints and stuff.
The cashew apples are juicy. I have made wine with these cashew apples and also juice. There is a liquor called Fenny which is produced from these apples.
Any more questions?

Well, your title is correct. I was ignorant. Thanks to you though I am no longer in that class of MyLotters. At least not as far as cashews are concerned.

Ripe Cashew apples are eaten fresh although they are steamed to get rid of their astringency while making juice.
What is cashew milk?

That's amazing you have a couple of those trees. Here, cashew nuts themselves can be somewhat expensive. Surely the fruit tastes nothing like the seed?

When we were kids that was what our elders would be worried about We would always stain our clothes and those stains would stick.

Isn’t the cashew seed poisonous when they’re raw, which is why you roast them?

Eating cashew apples is an art
. You need to add some salt to remove their astringency.

The title is quite rude, I think. Anyway, I love cashew nut. Especially the roasted spicy that vendors sells here in the food streets. The cashew apple is sticky haven't tasted it yet. It has awful smell.

@seraseraphina18 his title stopped me as well but then I realized he was just saying it in a different form then I think of it. I doubt he really thinks we are ignorant because we don't know it I think it was just said jokingly really.

.
I've never seen a cashew apple
- I didn't think the seed would be sticking out like that! So you can eat the actual "apple"? I wouldn't even know where to find them!
