Unexpected Company

Yesterday, after an early workout at the gym, 3 loads of laundry, lunch out with hubby, then home to read and nap, our doorbell rang.
You know I’m a people person and love people, but!
Please don’t stop by unexpectedly, especially when I’m taking a well deserved nap!
My husband let our friend in and gave him bottled water. I chose to remain in bed.
After 30 minutes of conversation, he left.
I got up to read some more.

Do you blame me for staying in my room?

Your husband handled the situation. No need for you to have to play unexpected hostess.

I thought most people call others and then turn up. In fact, I bluff I will not be around, so better call up and turn up. I am not exactly a people's person. I however love kids. I can only be patient with small kids and elderly folks. Others really test my patience.

Not really. I guess it is easy for most people to ring to see if it's convenient but I find it has stopped the spontaneous 'dropping in' that we might have once indulged in. We don't always have the phone number of a person with us but we hesitate to just call if they are not expecting us.

We’ve seen him 3 times in 3 weeks since we’ve been here and will see him again on New Year’s Eve. His first visit was unexpected, too. I expect a lot more popping in from people once they arrive, but hopefully not when I’m napping! I really needed that nap, too.

Thank you. Most people would call first, but down here, some people just knock and show up. I really did need my nap, and after seeing him 3 times in 3 weeks, I had nothing left to say.
. Besides, I will see him on New Year’s Eve! Sheesh!

No reason to interrupt your nap for an announced guest..At least it wasn't Dr. Jay..
. That really did make me chortle!

I think that there is nothing bad with you staying in your room. I also don't go out in my room sometimes when there are visitors because I am a shy person.

@DianneN I think that if a person visits most of the times, it really gets tiring and sometimes annoying.

Since you said him the 2 guys should have been able to amuse themselves just fine. I would have stayed in bed too.

Mike and I both don't like much company. We're not social butterflies. We both were raised by parents who had a never ending cycle of people coming in and out of home. There have been times we just won't answer the door. We enjoy our peace and solitude. Glad your husband was there to talk with him so you could rest.

My parents had lots of company over the years, and I do enjoy guests. However, this fella stopped by unannounced a couple of weeks ago, and we saw him twice socially already. We’ve only been in Florida 3 weeks today! Enough is enough. I’m all talked out and we will see him on New Year’s Eve!

sometimes when we need to stay in bed and suddenly we must stand up because somebody is ringing the bell, we feel somewhat disgusted. i feel that at times.
when my students come to the house to give their manuscript and i am watching a movie so seriously, i would stand up so slowly from my chair and walk so slow too. then i tell them to message me if they come

@DianneN right on that.
precisely, when we are at home, we should not be teachers but ordinary people. so when they come, they are ''invading our privacy''. they can give the manuscript in the ward anyway.
