2019 - here we come

We have spent four nights with friends in Mandurah, a seaside resort in south-west Western Australia. There are nine of us here and tonight we’re heading into the city centre to catch a small boat which will take us on a tour of the decorated houses along the canal system. At the end of the month we’ll be able to take our hired house-boat along the canals but by then the Christmas decorations will probably have all been packed away. The four men are off playing golf at the moment so I have a chance to read a few posts and attend to a few notifications. It is going to take me a few days to catch up but that’s okay. We saw the New Year in last night and watched the fireworks at the Sydney Harbour Bridge on TV. They were magnificent as usual. The photo is from a visit we made to Mandurah several years ago. Wishing you all a great start to 2019. I hope the year goes a bit slower than 2018.

A brilliant photo and a great start to the New Year! Apparently the fireworks in Melbourne were superb too! London fireworks were quite spectacular this year!

Happy New Year Judy. A strong wind blew during all the day here, they had to cancel the fireworks, not a big problem. We had a very quiet start of the Year.

Nothing wrong with a quiet start to the year. Fireworks would be cancelled here too if there were to be strong winds.

I feel a bit sorry for those having their birthdays so close to Christmas and New Year. A friend celebrates hers tomorrow and another one's big day is on the 5th.

Happy New Year Judy! It sounds like 2019 is off to a great start for you! Like you said, I hope 2019 goes much slower than 2018 did. My wish is that we all take the time in 2019 to slow down and learn to appreciate the small things in life more. Well find peace and solitude if we just open our eyes, our ears, and our hearts. Let's make 2019 the best year yet!

@DianneN It is peaceful here but closer to the resort there are dozens of people and I am guessing the beaches get quite crowded.
