That Is Just WRONG

After work today I treated myself to lunch at a favorite restaurant. After this busy week, it really was a treat. While there I witnessed something that just plain INFURIATED me. A table full of women tried to scam the restaurant by claiming they found a hair in their food. Now, this is a Tex-Mex place, so the first thing you get is "hello" and a bowl full of chips. The women claimed that they found a hair in their chips. Okay, that happens. It really does. I've found the outer plastic container from a salad bag in my salad there before. However, instead of leaving, they ordered a large amount of food....then demanded that the food be free because of the hair in the chips before they'd even ordered anything!! After they left the manager told me that these women had been in there before, pulling the exact same stunt about a month ago. That is just WRONG. And it's wrong on so many levels. It is stealing, and it is lying. It's casting suspicion on anyone who legitimately finds something wrong with their food. And someone has to pay for those "free meals," meaning that every person who comes into that restaurant will pay in increased costs. If they've done this at least twice in the same restaurant there's no telling how many other restaurants they've tried (or succeeded) at. Like the "boy who cried wolf," one day there will be something wrong with their food...but who's going to believe it? And now, a little humor, courtesy of Allan Sherman:

I agree with you, that is wrong on so many levels. Next time I hope they turn those women away at the door.

This is terrible. How can a whole group think this is okay? In our city there is a group of women who go to the op shops (thrift stores) purely and simply to shoplift. They don't need to do this. They just get their kicks from it. So unfair and annoying.

Not nice behaviour at all. Maybe the manager should ban them from the restaurant

they thought the restaurant would have forgotten their first stunt by now, but i think those incidents they wouldn't forget and will actually be vigilant about!

This is called "stealing" and it's wrong, I cannot understand how a whole group would think that it's okay.

I would find that infuriating too. I hope the restaurant removed the charge for the chips and made them pay for the rest.

Ah, the old "there's a hare in my soup line" taken to the extreme. There will always be cheaters. It is human nature. And most times it's accepted isn't it?

That would definitely be infuriating....especially since it's happened before. I don't know why they let them get away with it.
