Walk When I Can

Some people can be so fortunate to have no health issues; no aching legs when walking, no pain when standing.
I envy them and wish I can walk to the fullest as long as my knees can take it. Just wonder why some people, even young ones, always prefer to take car rides or other means of transportation even though they are going to near destinations.
They did not realize that one should take the opportunity to walk more as long as they are capable of doing it. Time will come they will regret not having walked a lot when their knees are not yet aching.

And when they grow old, they would realize the importance of what the old are telling them.

So far I don't have any problem with my knees, but I have a wee bit of scoliosis in my back that loves to make my life horrid!!

@acelawrites Actually... the more I move, the less pain I'm in. I'm fine by the end of the day... by morning... pain is horrible!!

@acelawrites Oh yes, I can walk but I'm a bit lame. I need my hip replaced but haven't been able to do anything about it because my husband needed so much care. i don't feel like getting it done at the moment.

@jaboUK we tend to postpone personal issues to solve the health issues of our loved ones first.

I used to walk a lot. I preferred walking instead of taking a bus. Today my knees hurt if I walk to much, and I can't walk as much as I did in the past, but I still take walks sometimes.

@acelawrites There is a park right behind my house, and it is a nice place to go for a walk. We have a dog and he loves to go for a walk in that park.

It is a common problem; there are no good sidewalks for pedestrians and when the sun shines so hot. But you can still walk in some other places which is nicer for walkers.

@acelawrites At least you manage to get a bit of walking in. That's remarkable and I'm still impressed by your effort.

Yes, I do it as much as I could even inside the house, to take even some steps from time to time, although I have a strider, sometimes it gets too boring to do it.

I couldnt agree more. I love walking but these days it is not as easy as it use to be. It was something I took for granted at one time but I don't now.

My office is actually a walking distance from my home, but I only walk after office hours when the sun is down and I can leisurely walk that distance which is about 5 minutes.

It is a good exercise, you'll never notice that you are already exercising even if walking slowly.

p.s. 've ya tried drinkin' gelatin? the hubs does this fer his knees/hands 'n such's helped him immensely.

From a fellow knee pain sufferer I also wish I could go back in time and enjoy the days when I could walk and run and just go up and down the stairs without trouble

If we could only do it again! I miss those days when I could run up to the 22nd floor using the stairs.

Is it only your knees ache do your legs ache too? I got the impression your first paragraph that it's more than your knees that get painful. If that is the case do you know why your legs ache? I had the same symptoms and even though waiting for my seconds knee replacement that isn't the same cause as when my legs used to ache.
I found this today from your tag of knees. It was actually Valerie's related post I first saw but you talking about your legs aching brought me here instead.

You can do it bit by bit. Later, you'll notice you'll have a stronger stamina.
