Not Before Saturday

My son just called. Not with the information I wanted to hear but to tell me he's having trouble with the brake lines. I have every confidence in my son's ability to do the job. I know it will get done and it will be a good job.
However -
It's going to start raining in the next few hours and rain through Thursday. He won't be able to work on the car in the rain. He also needs to pick up the parts for the tuneup.
I will get the car back, but it will be a little longer before that happens.
Because it will be Saturday before I get the car back, I sent a message to my pool friend. I won't be returning to the pool. As much as I want and need to be in the pool. I can't afford the membership, which expires next week. It looks like I won't be getting up at 3 AM anymore.
I sent a text message yesterday to my younger son to find out when he has off. Tomorrow and Saturday. Unless that car gets done early on Saturday, it doesn't look like I'm getting laundry done this week. Looks like I'm going to need to find out if he can pick me up and take me over to his apartment to do laundry. It's the only other solution I have right now. I certainly don't have the money necessary for the laundromat when it's all going to the car.
When it rains, it pours.
In the meantime, I've gotten three chapters edited today. The book is coming to an end soon. I've got 60 pages left to edit.
How is your day? Thanks for reading.

Sorry about the car. I know it's a pain. Roomie is going through the same thing..Today he wanted me to get him Pepsi..which I declined. I already got him a free long distance tow, what more does he want? Why did you move to a building without a washer and dryer at least in the basement or somewhere on the property? You having to do over to your kids to do laundry is not good at all. Most apartments at least provide hookups..

The washer and dryer are on the second floor. It's a steep set of 15 stairs and my knees can't do that. My son has stairs to his basement, but they're divided and easier on my knees. Besides, I get to spend time with my son and grandson once a week. It's better this way.
I'm still waiting for the insurance reimbursement for the towing. I don't know how long that will take.

Membership is $35. It isn't a lot, but it is when you don't have it. My next big project is going to be glasses. I'm having a hard time with my glasses - all three pairs now. I know I'm in trouble when I need to take off my computer glasses and get up close to the screen to see what it says.

Cars are so necessary but they are or can be the bane of our existence. I am glad your son is doing a good job on it, but sorry it is taking so long.

A peek into your family life. Wow.
We all go through such concerns, like the car needing to be in tiptop shape. Of course, it means our life. And the financial resources from which depends our daily subsistence.
These little domestic troubles actually spell our characters and our lives. Glad to know you go through all of it with a grain of salt.
The editing could be stressful.

@just4him Valerie, I have grown a silver vixen, my hair is fast turning grey. When exchanging conversations with real life friends and acquaintances, there are two things they have observed on my being: first, I am a stickler for truth, and second, I am genuinely, deeply overjoyed by their stories about life.
You and I, for reasons that we belong to different churches, have different viewpoints on Bible interpretations, thus, have been in constant rebuttals over our beliefs. That, for me, is an intellectual and spiritual discourse. Never did I take that against your person, the fact of the matter is, you have gained my admiration, for only a select delve on in-depth studies of the greatest book ever written.
I love stories about the family, I grew up watching Little House on the Prairie and Rich Man, Poor Man on Saturday night tv.
Compliments to you being a good and considerate mother.
And thanks for the editing tips. Not my forte at all. Only those who are good at it find the enjoyment. Kudos to you.

I'm going to accept this as a compliment.
Editing is fun not stressful. I learn a lot from it. I know for many authors, it can be stressful and many hate editing. The whole book process, from writing, to research, to revision, to editing, to the final step of publishing is fun. If it weren't, I wouldn't be doing it.

Sorry to hear you won't be getting the car back before the weekend. It's frustrating not having the car and doing what you want when you want.

@Courtlynn It's much better today. The flooding is near the rivers now and we have one on the east side where I live. At least the kids will be back in school tomorrow.

No. My son's driveway was flooded due to all the flooding we had here from the rapid snowmelt. The flood is receding, and his driveway should be good soon so he can work on my car. We don't have any rain in the forecast at all this week and the temps are going up to the 50s by Sunday.

I am sorry it is taking longer on the car, but that's great that he is working on it for you and it will get done. Sorry about the pool, and that the membership is expiring.

Thank you. Hopefully, I'll get back to the pool before Summer. I hope to have it back tomorrow, but the weather is quirky right now. At the moment it's snowing. We have citywide as well as statewide flooding from all the snow melt. So whether he can work on the car tomorrow as planned, is to be seen.

@just4him That would be good, but time will tell. Oh yeah, that is understandable....all depends on the weather if he can work on it or not! Hopefully soon though!

Yes, I do. I also need the weather to be dry, with no rain or snow.

Yes. My son picked me up so I could get to his place to do laundry. The car is dependent on the weather since my son doesn't have a garage to work in and the weather has been wet and flooding everywhere.
It's always great to connect with God. Have a blessed day.
