Well Hello, Nice to Meet You!!

Have you met your neighbors? We hadn't until last week after a huge storm that took out the fence between our yards. Needless to say that I didn't notice it until after I went onto the patio in my nightgown to check on our turtle, looked over and saw them on their patio looking at the fence that was no longer there. Yeah, that happened! What do you do at that point?? I slowly waved, ran back in the house to dress and red faced and all had to go back out and introduce myself. I am sure that will be a meeting they never forget. Mean while, under that fence are all my garden decorations. My bird feeders are toast, stained glass bird bath in pieces, angels, windmill, EVERYTHING gone, crushed and broken. I really hate the wind! How did you meet your neighbors?

I'm sorry the wind destroyed so many of your items. =( We don't really have neighbors close by where we live in the country.

@LovingMyBabies Sounds like a beautiful place to live, when my kids were younger we lived in the mountains in Colorado, it was so quiet and peaceful there, I miss it.

Sorry for the mess and what a mess the wind can make. I have 9 families on my section of the apartment building and have met them all over the years.

@cintol These are only half of the people on my side of the elevators. There are as many families on the other side of the elevators which I rarely see. There are 12 floors in the building. In emergencies I have a few friends that live on other floors.

Met my neighbors when we moved in here recently. They came up to introduce themselves, however ulterior motives not the type of people you want to know.

I’m so sorry your items were ruined. And how embarrassing! Lol! The houses in which we lived sit on a minimum or 1 1/2 acres, so never had that problem. The day we moved into our last house, a neighbor came over to introduce himself and offered us a huge discount on heating oil, etc. He owned the company, so we went with him.

It's a little different here. We all know each other here. I do not understand how you did not know them? Are they new neighbors? I'm sorry about your decoration, I got a few unscrupulous neighbors in my environment

We moved here a little over a year ago and with the fence you don't really ever see the neighbors behind you and we don't go on the other block.

@LowRiderX I wasn't angry at them, the winds were so strong that it blew it over. It broke the posts right off at the ground, I was just embarrassed because I was in my nightgown on my patio before I realized the fence was down and they were standing there. lol

Oh no! I am so sorry all your garden decorations were crushed under the fence. There is no fence between our neighbor and us, just a metal fence, but their garden is behind our garden, I have to go in the backyard to see them and I only see their backyard.

Oops! I'm sorry, Cindy! I sure didn't mean for the winds to be that strong down there! I thought maybe I'd get a flash of panties and that was all! I'm sorry all your yard ornaments were broken! *shake my head* Why is your fence so far from the road?

@cintol Oh, I see... Or, rather they saw, not me! Yeah, when we bought our house in Aurora, we found out that a good fence made very nice neighbors and the lack of one caused us to move!

@DaddyEvil Oh yeah, they saw all! I don't think I could live in a house without a fence, I like my privacy too much. Hoping he gets this fence fixed soon back there as I am tired of waiting already and want to start my garden.

We met ours when our barn got struck by lightening and burst into flames. They cam over to check on us, made me very pleased they did. Nice to know if we needed them they would be there even though we do not know them well. I am so sorry about your stuff getting crushed, that stinks.

Sorry, to hear that. The wind can do a lot of damage. I knew my neighbors back in Latvia where we lived in the suburbs and would say hi whenever we saw them. Here in Florida, I do not know any of the people who live around me.

Thank you, yes the wind can be a dangerous thing when they get so strong. I like our little neighborhood here, we know many of the neighbors in the front of us but this was my first meeting with someone behind on the next block. I am sure I left a lasting impression!!

Well that gown was a little short and very thin so but I didn't think about it because the turtle is on the porch so when you go out the door your looking straight at the turtle, I had to turn to the right to see them. I am sure it was a meeting they won't forget anytime soon!! I wanted to live further away from people but this is where we ended up so now I have to deal with it. Its not bad when the fence is there and you can't see them.
