New Car Excitement!

How is everyone’s Tuesday going? I am meal prepping some quinoa and veggie salad after what felt like a long day of gym going, grocery shopping, and then purchasing a car at a nearby dealership! Totally not a 100% impulse buy as I had been looking at and researching what I had wanted for a while. Mainly, I wanted AWD (all wheel drive) for Minnesota’s crazy winters, and remote start (for likewise reasons) and something a bit newer. What I wound up with was a 2014 “Oxford white” Ford Taurus SEL with AWD. Got a pretty decent finance rate and don’t have a car payment until the middle of May (awesome!) I got a 5 year note on this thing but plan on paying it back hopefully in less than 3. Also...driving it feels like driving a boat in comparison to my little Mazda3, but a very smooth boat indeed! Now I just have the pain of cleaning out my car, selling it and moving on with my life! It sounds weird but I will miss the Mazda, I have had it since 2013! But it is time. Anything exciting in your world?

Yes! Nice. Subaru was on my list if I couldn’t find a Ford. For some reason I like how these look a lot. I heard all Subaru sedans have all wheel drive. Makes me wonder why more sedans do not. Especially when you live around rough terrain or places with bad winters.

Thank you! It’s older and starting to rust a bit. It will be bittersweet to get rid of it though!

We had a small Ford Fiesta as city car that lasted 19 years, it was a great reliable car. Small enough to be good for the Swiss roads.

@maezee My husband brought the car to the garage for a checkup every year, it is mandatory here. We used the car to go to Milan (Italy) many times and the roads are a mess there.

Some kind of grain? Lol. I cook with it frequently. It’s supposed to be healthier for you than rice but serve the same purpose

Congratulations on your new car! I hope you enjoy it! It looks really nice (white cars are my favorite) and it sounds like you got a good deal. And I understand about missing your old car. I tend to develop this odd bond with machines myself. But as a guy at my local dealership told me long ago, "You now have a new one you can fall all in love with!" Nothing too exciting happening in my world right now. I am just studying for a placement test at my local community college as I plan on going back to school this summer. I hope to study fitness and hotel operations.

Sweet. Hope all goes well with the testing. I also like white cars although many of my friends and family are confused as to why i like them. They look pretty!

Once you get all the paperwork / financing / insurance squared away, then it’s a good feeling!

Congrats on your new car. The car that I drive was made in 2004 so when I change to another vehicle, I am sure there will be a little pain. I hope you have fun with your Ford. I know too much about crazy winters.

@maezee My little old lady car just keeps on chugging so I see no reason to start up a car payment bill. I do need to go get its oil changed in a week or so cause I will be heading on a road trip at the start of next month. Maybe I am deaf but at this point I don't hear 'extra' noises coming from anywhere so I'm hoping it will be just an oil change.

Good! I hope I learn to love this thing. It is a smooth ride but feels so LARGE after driving a more compact sedan for many years!

Congratulations on your new car. My sister has driven a Ford car in Canada for years. As for anything exciting, my family and I will be going on a road trip up north to attend a wedding.
