A Time To Say No

The drive around today was fabulous! The temperature was 80 without much humidity. All the different colors of green, trees got their leaves. The blooming dogwoods in white and pink, scattered around lawns and wild in the woods.
I finally got in touch with someone to tell them "no" do not come here for a visit, those days are taken up with appointments.
Ever heard the old saying "feed a cat and it`ll stay forever?" well, someone called today, he is sick as far as I know, and he knows Tony is sick but still he asked Tony to come and fix his front door, he had got mad and kicked it in so the door wont stay closed. This is one of those people that you do something nice for them once and they think you should every time they call. Tony told him how to fix it, a latch and pad lock on the outside and for the inside a slide latch. Me? what was my 2 cents in this matter? A nail on the wall outside and a string to hold it, inside a chair. Am I being mean? No. I don`t think so, he should have thought before he kicked his door down. Tony said "No, I`m sick and I can`t help you."
I did have a nice day, I hope yours was too.

There are times when you have to say no, and then if you are stronger later, or feeling generous, you can choose to say yes or offer some help. Good for Tony to say no.

No more. Tony bought him new underwear and gave him money not long ago, well he sent me, but he doesnt care that Tony is sick and dying with cancer.
In the past I bought him groceries more than once. I feel sorry for him but he has to help himself, he claims to not get any food stamps or a SSI.

@andriaperry not at all. Our winters in South Africa are quite cold. We get snow and below zero celcius often. I live close to Johannesburg and Pretoria. the summer heat is also in extreme sometimes.

Most of the time we don`t answer the phone. Tony did and he said that is usually what happens when he does.

@andriaperry Picked up sticks, greenhouse, tore my little fairy garden apart and was mean to the kitties.

I guess some people just can't grow up. I found this landlord Facebook group a few weeks ago, and I love it. All the landlords share stories and advice and problems. They would have applauded your saying no.
Part of my day was lazy, but then I got tired shopping. Anything to avoid working on taxes. I actually did spend a few hours yesterday shuffling paper to find information I need to do them. Hubby finally gave me most of the data I'm missing I'll need to complete Schedule E. I have no excuses left.

@andriaperry good for you. When I was younger I had a hard time saying no. Now, I am teaching my kids to say no when needed to.

It was 50 here today. It's going to be up in the 70s in the next couple of days. Perfect! No, you weren't mean; and Tony said he was sick and couldn't help. You're fine.

What gets me is that I know the treatment for lung cancer is chemo and you do lose your hair, But he still has his and still smokes.
