What was your kindest moment today? What was your nastiest moment today?

I tend to think of myself as a kind person. When I see statutes of St. Francis in friends' gardens, I think of me. Animals and small children tend to flock to me. But then I realize that everything implies its (Jungian) "shadow." If I think I am so kind, there must be an inner "as*hole" lurking inside. Have you ever thought anything like that? I decided to examine my kindest and my most "a*sholish" act from today. Here is what I found: My kindest act was talking gently to the mother dove and her two babies at my friend's house. We were practicing music there, and took breaks in the back yard. A dove and her two babies have nested atop his outside Bose speaker. My most "as*holish" act was a statement I made while playing bass with my friends. I said, "(Friend X) is going to get his ass fired from this band for not showing up to enough practices. I can play bass with anyone." Yes, I had a moment of cockiness, even hubris, perhaps. What was your most and least kind act today?

Nothing unkind at all. I accepted my cat Sid when he popped in through the window completely wet and chose to sit in my lap for some comfort. Now, that is kindness toward animals.

@TheHorse it did not bother me unless Sid tried to sit on my head, He knows better than that though.

Did the wet spot in your lap cause you discomfort? I'm all for kindness to our fur friends.

My a**hole moment was my first discussion of the day. I should not have allowed this persons misery get to me, but I did and I laid it out that I have had my life of crap too, some think because I am active I`m 100% health. I had many kind moments, The power went out, while I was on the phone reporting it I seen a red bird fly up to the cat food feeder that I had turned up, it was pecking the plastic wanting food, After the call I poured out food for him. Tony was sleeping with the power out, I opened to door to allow air in. I let the dogs out of the backyard while I mowed grass, I would toss them extra treats.I also baked brownies for Tony, he is sickly.

@TheHorse Yes. This one complains about everything and when you joke or even find a solution, she just finds another fault to complain about. I am no longer reading her posts.

@andriaperry I'd probably move on as well. I left a longish comment on your post, but it may have been sucked into the vortex.

I do not think I was unkind today, except maybe to be a bit impatient with hubby, who loves me dearly and forgives me, because he knows I probably need to eat. My kindest act was to meet a friend for coffee. She had changed times and locations on me several times, but no complaints here I am just glad to still have her. She is a genius and an inspiration.

Why does she move around so much? Or did she just keep rescheduling?

I went out in the rain to get Morris and Cruella back in the house. Then I took them back outside again

I don't really think I had either today. I spent most of the day alone and depressed. I gave a friend food I made for her but I was paid for it. I had dinner with family members I haven't seen in over a year and we got along fine.

Why depressed? I like being alone sometimes. What kind of food did you make for your friend?

@TheHorse I made her 3 meals for her husband and her (she?). Turkey meatloaf and mac and cheese, salmon cakes and basmati rice, and a chef's salad. I'm depressed b/c I recently moved to an apartment by myself and I'm going through a divorce. Today was too much time alone.

Well my day just started and I haven't been able to be nice or an as*hole yet. As for yesterday my nice part was helping an older lady at the store pickup a case of bottled water from her cart and putting it in her car. I was actually surprised she let me help, when I asked if she needed help she kind of looked at me like she didn't trust me. As for my as*hole moment, I really didn't have one except cussing out the snow as it was coming down. LOL

Good enough! A little cursing is good. I do that. Very cool as for helping the older lady. I'm glad she was "pleasantly surprised." We live (I think) in an era of mistrust.

@TheHorse Yea, no one trust anyone and although it's good cause most people can't be trusted, it's very sad that that is the world we live in now.

that's not an ahole statement.that's the truth.there's such a lack of bassists and drummers in some areas,i know several that are in multiple bands at once. kindest act was probably carrying a biddy's luggage.. nastiess:hmm..none today i think.but yesterday i left the dishwasher unrun at work but only because the night girl left me some from the night before.i had to do hers first to have dishes for the breakfast room and i was pissed off.

I went out in the rain to fill the bird feeders and then to play with the kitten of my neighbor that was outside alone. Yesterday I had no nasty moments. Never be nasty on Sundays.

@TheHorse I usually have no reasons to be nasty. When I go out shopping I can only become annoyed by the attitude of some people, but I move on.
