Christians around the world are ready to celebrate Easter. Most countries have a traditional dessert for that special holiday. Those listed are some that I have tasted. Russia and Ukraine - Pashka A sweet cheese pudding, made with a blend of farmer's cheese, eggs, sugar, fruit and nuts. Spain - La Mona de Pascua It is the official cake of the Holy Week. Yellow cake filled with apricot jam and colorfully decorated. Italy - Colomba di Pasqua (Easter Dove) It is a sweet bread made with eggs, butter, flour, orange and lemon zests. The dough is fashioned into a dove shape and topped with pearl sugar and almonds. Malta - Figolli cookies These traditional Easter cookies are filled with Marzipan. Do you have a special Easter dessert in your country, other than the chocolate eggs?

I usually make a coconut cake in the shape of a lamb. It's a basic pound cake inside then frosted and covered in coconut. My aunt started this tradition when I was young and I got her cake mold when she passed away. The lamb cake is a traditional family dessert in our family.

This sounds good. I had the mold shaped as a lamb and I cannot find it anymore. I have the molds to make the chocolate eggs, but there are no kids anymore in the family.

They all look delicous.... We don't have any traditional Easter desserts, but we usually eat some kind of cake for dessert. It could be one of our local cakes or a recipe from another country. On a local recipe site I saw a picture of a nice Easter cake. It was decorated with small chocolate eggs.

@LadyDuck I like carrot cakes. My mother makes a very nice carrot cake, but she can't cook at the moment. I saw a cake with an Easter bunny picture. I would like to make that one, but I don't think that I will have time the next couple of days. I might save it and make it next year instead.

@Porcospino I also like carrot cakes, I also make carrot muffins for the breakfast. I have only one carrot in the refrigerator, I buy more tomorrow morning at Aldi.

I don't know if we have an official traditional dessert for Easter here . I almost feel like here it's all about the Easter candies - the array of chocolates, marshmallow Peeps, hard and soft candies - shaped in bunnies, chicks, eggs - but all that isn't really "dessert". I do have these little Easter egg spring pans . . . perhaps I should do something with them .

@LadyDuck Today I saw the Lindt stuff . . . oh it was too tempting. We got a bunch of other chocolates so my daughter could fill plastic eggs for the family. Wow, did you buy up a lot of chocolates? I don't like to store chocolate in summer either . . . leaving it out, it will melt . . . and then to put them in the fridge, it doesn't seem to keep well (becomes lighter and a strange texture). I don't know if I will have time to bake .

You surely should do something. This is the first year that I do not buy Lindt chocolate eggs. have enough chocolate bars at home for the next 4 months. I do not want to store chocolate in summer.

@much2say I try to avoid to buy too much chocolate, my husband does, every time there are sales he buys. The reason is because he loves chocolate mousse. Chocolate must never be stored in the refrigerator. I keep the bars in our "Atomic Shelter" (that I use as a pantry/cellar), that is always pretty cold even in summer. I made a chocolate mousse yesterday. May be I am going to make a chocolate cake for Easter.

We have Panettone for Christmas, the dove for Easter and the "Veneziana" for the New Year in Italy, similar but not identical.

The parents of my husband had a Seder for Passover. We are doing very little this year, two friends join us on Sunday for lunch, a quiet Easter.

@DianneN Yes, when we still lived in Italy we attended their seders. The father of my husband appreciated if I participated to their traditions. There was no reason why I did not.

Not dessert, but if you go for a walk, you should drink Solo (orange soda) and eat Kvikk Lunsj (chocolate that looks like kitkat but tastes better). And possibly and orange.

@LadyDuck Not for dessert. For dinner it's quite a lot of lamb, but Easter here is more about getting out (possibly skiing) than food.

I had forgot about this cute cake that I surely had more than one time in Monaco. I was searching the name of the best "Chocolatier" in Monte Carlo and I found that his son now is in Nice. I cannot believe his son is 37, he was a kid yesterday.

I don't celebrate Easter so not really sure what the dessert would be other than chocolate everything, at least that is what I see in the stores. Your four examples just reminded me that I really liked Pashka the one time I had it, that really brought back memories, thank you.

@LadyDuck I know that, but we don’t make a big cake for hims we just pick up cup cakes as need for smaller parties. I make his own cake for his birthday with gluten free flour. I also are sure it’s not almonds flour as he is allergic to nuts as well.
