Hey everyone. I hope you're doing amazing. Sometimes the STRONGEST people are those that love beyond measure, with a love only God can give!
Let me start this by saying the retreat was amazing and eye opening in many ways. The worship and sermons were incredible!!
Something else was an immense blessing as well though...
There was a woman there who I bunked with that had a faith I just cannot describe. She loves the Lord even through her tradegy!
PLEASE read what I am about to say even though it's long...
A few months ago her son Travis was shot in the face by her other son over a TV one wanted from the other, both in their 20's.
She lost both sons within minutes and watched it happen in front of her eyes-yes she saw it take place!!
Yet she did not blame God, she didn't get angry at God, she didn't become bitter, she does not hate life, she isn't ungrateful still, etc...
I almost cried when I heard her testimony-tears filled my eyes and SHE SAID oh no don't cry, praise God my baby is in Heaven because he was saved by grace 2 months before he died!! She said that's why I'm rejoicing!
So....when you think you're going through something hard, when you want to give up or get angry-you remember Mimi and Travis!
And remember God's got this as well as you need to STAND FIRM in His word no matter what is happening around you.
I learned so much during this weekend and I am forever grateful that I have been changed from the inside out!!
I would love to pray for you-please let me know if you need me to. =)

I don't have a "life verse" per se. But if I did it would be
Habakkuk 3:17-18
Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

@LovingMyBabies It is indeed. For many years it was written on a huge piece of hardboard panel that I used as a dry-erase board in our school space as a reminder that it doesn't matter if we can give thanks and praise when the going is good. Real worship doesn't depend on circumstances.

I am happy to hear that you had an amazing retreat. Personal stories can be very powerful, and when people share their personal stories with us it can have a big impact on us. I have experienced that, too. I am happy you had the chance to meet that woman.

I agree, when you see some of the things I see, the sickness, and the people say, its not God, it was me I smoked all those years, Its heart warming.
I hear people complain about stuff and I think, someone has it worst than you, I think, I do not say it.

@andriaperry This was more of a self reflection thing for me.
I do complain at times over things nowhere near as bad as they could be. This weekend was a great time of reflection for me in everything I learned.
Not only to stop complaining but also to stand firm in His word, knowing He will stay true to His promises even when things do get hard.

I am glad that you had such a moving experience with your bunk mate.
These interactions can be life-altering, and I hope that you never forget the impact that her words had on you.
Its so sad whenever a parent loses a child, that is not the way that life is supposed to be.
But clinging to the negativity of it doesn't allow us to go on. And that is a true waste of our own life, and that of any others really close to us. You know that I am speaking from experience.
I do complain, but for the most part I try to be thankful for what I have, even on the dark days.
I have a feeling that the retreat will reinforce those feelings in you.
