It was a wet sloppy day in Louisville, Kentucky for the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby. Despite the rain, the grounds were packed with colorfully dressed people and the hats. The hats are my favorite part of the Derby. The crazier, the better I like them. I didn't see many crazy ones though. I did see a lot of hats.
As for the race everyone waited all day for. The winner, Maximum Security, was disqualified for impeding another horse. After a fifteen minute review, Country House took the honors to win the Derby. Now onto the Preakness on May 18, and the Belmont to see if we have another Triple Crown winner. I don't think so, but it would be interesting to see if it happens again, two years in a row.

I did not see the race, but judging by your comment it was interesting Valerie, at least you got to see who had the craziest hat, though none of them astonished you :(

@jvicentevalera Yes, it's one of the biggest horse races. It's the first leg of the Triple Crown. If the same horse wins three specific races - the Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes, they win a special trophy. I think it's the biggest event in horse racing.
The same horse winning all three races is difficult. It hasn't been done often. A horse, Justify, did it last year for the first time in 35 years, I think.
It's unlikely the horse, Country House, who won yesterday by default, will win the next race.

@just4him Oh that's nice. actually I was about to comment yesterday that it was trending topic on Twitter. I did not know such a race was a big thing that everybody was twetting about. I am glad that it was a good race, and you enjoed it!

The last minute and some of the post race waiting to see what happened'. We won't see a triple crown winner this year as many are saying Maximum Security will be extra careful not to make that one or two misstep that led to the impeding which he did quickly correct. This race will be talked about for years to come and many will still dispute the steawrds call. Some people who wager on races had a really big payout at 65 to 1

I'm sure they did get a large payout. I'm also certain there won't be a Triple Crown winner, but you never know what will happen until it does. I'm sure Maximum Security will show better in the Preakness and Belmont.
