Oh, what a night!

Last night was one of my favorite gig nights ever. It was the second night of a back-to-back in a local "cowboy" bar. We played classic rock 'n roll with me on bass and bronchitis. I couldn't sing, but I could play. The crowd was medium in size, but really enthusiastic. People were dancing for most of the night. We played the best I've ever heard us play. We "partied" with folks from the "audience" during breaks. All were kind and conversational. At the end of the night, we were asked to do an encore, and we did a "bad-assed" blues tune--I can't even remember which one. Folks were dancing, hugging, and having a great time. After the show, several audience members (male and female) asked me for a hug, and I obliged. This is a cowboy bar, but the "vibe" felt more like something from the '60s that I was too young to experience. As I was driving home (at 3 AM), and old Paul Simon song was playing in my head. I'll attach it below. What a magical evening.

"Colin, you`re a superstar!" I was smiling when I was reading how wonderful the night went, I hope you gave them something to remember with those kisses, a bad cough, LOL.

I managed not to cough on any of our listeners. I think it's cool that they felt comfortable enough to ask for hugs from the musicians. That's what it's all about!

@jvicentevalera I'll attach a video of me singing. But it's not rock 'n roll. I'm a folkie at heart. I got to play all of the instruments on this one.

Sounds great. And you could have a bluegrass band -- the Bronchitis Boys -- in the works, too. (Seriously, sorry to hear you have it. I wouldn't wish bronchitis on my worst enemy.)

@TheHorse -- in the past couple of years I've been given benzonatate for the bronchitis cough. I just want to know where that's been all my life. It's wonderful for suppressing the cough, and I've never noticed any side effects.

I can imagine what a great ambiance there was in that "cowboy" bar. May be we are going to a "Murder Mystery Dinner" at the end of May, we had fun the last time they proposed it. It is a bit expensive, I am not yet sure.

@TheHorse Yes, there are comedians who play, a murder is committed and the guests must try to solve the mystery. We loved the previous dinner.

@Hannihar I had been working on my guitar and put a tiny bit of crazy glue on the tips of my right index and middle fingers. It worked.

I normally like your selection. Singing in this would be termed off key in some places as per Indian music. But in your world that is acceptable.

@TheHorse Not the instrument playing, the singing..the guy singing in some place is off key. Instrument playing is ok. I also noticed one thing about western music. It has kind of you leave the note and shift to the next note. Sounds like cutting the music. Does not sound bad, but we are not accustomed to it. Such notes are only used in some prayer songs depicting frustration or demand from god, or in some patriotic songs. Normally notes in song are blended with half notes so that transition is not very obvious.

India music seems to have some different intervals, relative to Western music.

Yes. But I had no fever and stuck to paying tight bass. I didn't sing all of the harmony vocals I usually sing.

Before both gigs (Friday and Saturday), I cycled in the afternoon. I think that was a good idea, as it increased my stamina. "I'm gettin' too old for this stuff."
