Do you make coffee at home from fresh beans or do you drink instant coffee?

Ever since my brother has gifted me the Breville Barista Express I never drink instant coffee, unless I am at someone's house and that's all they have. I always make fresh coffee. I don't buy ground coffee but instead buy fresh beans from Whole Foods Market and grind them myself in the Breville. That means going to Whole Foods at least once a month to buy fresh coffee beans. There is no Whole Foods near me, so it's a long commute to get there, especially if I go there via public transportation. But it is worth it because I love the coffee beans they sell. I'd rather make the trip there and spend a bit more time and money on coffee than get it elsewhere knowing I won't enjoy it as much. Do you make coffee at home from fresh beans or do you drink instant coffee?

I only drink one cup of coffee a day as well. In the morning or maybe around noon. Depends on when my first meal is. Never drink instant at home. Fresh coffee made from freshly ground beans is so much better tasting.

@LindaOHio You make a cup at a time. It's different from a regular coffee maker.

@lovebuglena Does your coffeemaker make just one cup?

My parents used to always have instant coffee - I didn't know any other back then . But no more - I cannot stand instant coffee. We do get the ground stuff, but I love experimenting with fresh beans you get bulk. I go to Sprouts for the bulk variety of beans - and we have a grinder at home.

@lovebuglena We've always had a small grinder so we could do it as needed at home. I guess the store grinder you do the whole lot . . . but in all honesty I never did it there because I don't know how to use it . I've often wondered if the different grounds from other people got kinda mixed in there too.

I don't like grinding coffee beans in the store because I don't know how my machine will extract the coffee. Grinding them at home I can adjust the grind size if the coffee doesn't extract well.

@much2say That can happen... My concern is the grind size. If I do it wrong in the store and my machine doesn't extract the coffee well I am screwed. Can't regrind the coffee. Hence why I prefer to do it at home.

We drink instant so I guess we can't call ourselves 'real' coffee drinkers.

Coffee made from fresh ground beans doesn't compare to instant coffee.

I always have gound coffee and instant coffee in my home. I prefer ground coffee, and I drink it most of the time. If I only want one cup of coffee I might make instant coffee instead, but that doesn't happen very often.

@lovebuglena We only have a coffee maker. If I know that want one than one cup I use the coffee maker. The theme jug keeps the coffee warm.

With the machine I have you make one cup of coffee at a time. But it's not a coffee maker though.

@lovebuglena The instant coffee does not even taste like real coffee. I have a drip coffee machine for the morning and an espresso machine for the after lunch coffee, I love espresso.

In the past I used to only drink instant coffee. That was the only option for me while I lived in my parents' house. Now that I have the machine my brother got me I can't believe I ever drank instant coffee.
