Our Little Window Tapper

The picture above isn't mine but the bird in question looks very similar to this one. Last weekend, a yellow bird landed on my brother's window sill and started tapping the window. He yelled for me and I watched it until it got spooked and flew off. C and I then went into the living room still talking about the bird when all of a sudden the bird appeared outside our living room window and started tapping. A few minutes later he tapped on another window in our living room. He has done this several times this past week, going window to window. Yesterday, I saw him on our balcony. He landed on a chair then flew up to that window and started tapping. This is the weirdest thing. Does anyone know what kind of bird this is? His colors are a little brighter than the above picture. At first, we thought it was a parakeet but it didn't have the right colors and its face is different. I really would love to know why he is picking our apartment. It's so strange.

I think it is the famous Yellowtappingbird! Just kidding! That is very strange behaviour and I hope someone has an idea about what kind of a bird that is.

Wow, how odd. I've never seen a bird do that. Could it be a canary that is looking for her humans?

Could it be it was fighting it's reflection @simone10 ?

He sounds like a cute little character. We had a male cardinal that used to watch himself in the sideview mirror of our car if we parked it outside. He was so comical to watch.

@Juliaacv he thought he was seeing another bird. I'm surprised that he didn't try to attack the mirror.

Hard to say because "similar" is not "identical", it could be a goldfinch if it has a black spot on the head, but it can be a canary, they are friendly birds. If it's a canary it surely escaped from an apartment and wants to come back.

@simone10 We do not have those birds here. The European red robin that come here every winter have the habit to tap on my windows.

It's not a canary. Crazyhorseladycx said it was a female bullocks oriole and when I looked it up, it looks exactly that bird. I'm positive that's what it is. Still odd that she would tap at all of our windows, 4, except my bedroom.

Is it perhaps a gold finch? I have had birds, usually cardinals, attracted to my windows in certain parts of the house. It seems they were attracted to the lighting and certain colors in the rooms.

It is so interesting; why does it tap on the window; maybe it is hungry? You could put some bird seeds there.
