Personally I have been enhancing my English skills since I stepped into myLot when I got here 5 months ago. Every single moment in this site has been worth it, and it would not have been the same without you all. From the native English speakers who are so understanding when we might say something that does not make sense but they struggle to understand, to my fellows non native English speakers who are in this presice moment learning as I am. In my opinion every single detail counts, from a comma to an “ed” and other forms to end a past tense verb. Languages from all countries are never an easy task to master, some people do it so easily, and even more than one language which makes me feel envy, not in a bad way but in an inspiring way, maybe that does not make sense, but do not mind me please!
What I want say is that as the way I see it when one decides to learn a language it is like getting married forever, as they say “till death do us apart”. I have had the opportunity to talk to people who have learned several languages due to their lifestyles that allowed them to be able to live in different countries where they actually took the advantage of being in such places not only to improve their skills, but also to interact with the people living there in order to finally overcome their insecurities lucky them! In my case that is what I need to prove myself, I wish I could talk with a native English speaker one on one and see if that person would get my pronunciation, and how I express myself, to fully believe that I am really doing great at speaking which is what makes me feel insecure the most.
I said it.
Photo is mine.

My written English is not the bad, José, although I always have to fight with the double s and ts. But you should listen to my accent!!! It is the very worst! I haven´t really talked in English for over 50 years.

@marguicha My grandpa didn't speak English until he was 12 . He taught himself and boy did he have a thick accent. He wouldn't teach us Spanish.

@marguicha He said that we were Americans and that we would speak English. He was born in the United States, but his parents weren't. He thought that he was helping us, but we would have been better off bilingual.

Very well said here. I am not good with languages but coming to live in Israel I had to learn Hebrew. It was struggle and still it. I do my best to speak it whenever I need to and if someone wants to practice their English on my I tell them how am I going to learn Hebrew if you speak to me in English. They may turn back to Hebrew. There are those that want to practice their English and I speak in Hebrew to them.

Your written English is very good and I hope you continue speaking and learning English. I never learned any other language so I give you credit for learning a new language.

Your English is better than mine! To be honest, almost every English speaking person my husband and I met in Venezuela spoke beautifully. My hairdresser is married to a brilliant geologist from Caracas and he speaks so well. I’ve never had a problem understanding you.

Your English is very good. This is a very well worded, articulate post.
Dare I say it - but some native English speakers do not write so well.
I can only imagine - I have heard that this is a hard language to master. I admit that while I know a little German (I took it in highschool) and some American Sign Language - I am no where near able to fully carry on a conversation - in either.
I'm happy this site has been helpful.
