Do you serve "appetizers" with your meals?

I usually just make what I'm going to eat, dump it on a plate, bring it to my desk, and eat. But the other day, I "went all French," and decided to serve my meal in "courses." First, I drank a shot of tequila. Then I ate a salad of my own creation while the mac and cheese cooked in the oven. For my last course, after the mac and cheese, I smoked a cigarette. The salad was very basic and perfect for a hot day. It involved only hearts of palm and mandarin oranges, covered in Marie's blue cheese dressing. Do you generally serve appetizers with your meals?

@amadeo His wife had passed away, so he did not have a partner, as you do. But he loved to write, loved to ranch, and lived to be 88--a decent accomplishment in 1902.

I don't have company over for dinner as much as I used to. I hope I don't turn into a recluse (not yet). My GGGF was bit of one for his last 15 or so years.

I don't even usually prepare meals. I just eat whatever I can find in the fridge or pantry throughout the day. I basically eat a lot of small snacks versus big meals. I usually only eat big meals if I go out to eat somewhere, or if my gf feels like cooking (which is like never).

@TheHorse Salmon. And Publix is only the best grocery store ever in the history of grocery stores! LOL It's the dominant grocery store in the southeastern US.

@TheHorse I had salmon for breakfast for the first time a week ago when I was at Disney World. I eat it a lot for dinner, but never thought of it as a breakfast food before now.

Same here. I guess it was the timing that made me go all fancy.

No. Most times when I eat out the appetizers ends up being my meal because I get full. Right now I am on a 1200 calorie a day diet, to get the diabetes under control, I went over yesterday to 1525 and my Blood sugar was a high of 208 this morning, its supposed to be under 100. My snacks are now air.

If I have guests I serve a drink with appetizers before the meal, sometimes I do for the two of us also if we have a very light meal.

I eat everything in courses and I guess you could call one of them an appetizer.

I still haven't looked for hearts of palm in the shops. We sometimes have 'nibbles' with our pre-dinner drink but that's about it.

I do the same as you. I am not patient enough for 'courses'.

Nope. The only time I have appetizers is at a restaurant. I do it just like you do. Cook what I want, plop it down and eat it.

No appetizers, just the main meal. Like @andriaperry said, if I eat an appetizer in a restaurant, I'm too full for anything else.
