Mom to the Rescue

My son called to say he needed help. He was at a gas station on less than an eighth of a tank of gas and wouldn't have money until he got paid today. With a promise he would pay me back today, I mapped his location and went to the rescue.
To my credit, I didn't get lost. I found it without a problem, a rare feat when I've never been to that gas station or location before. When I mapped it, it was a clean shot straight down the highway to the major intersection, 42 minutes from home.
The easy part is that I've been on that route many times in my life as I grew up in the city of Clintonville which turns off that highway. I was only going a little farther down the road. So, I knew where I was going, just not how far I would be going.
As I was typing this, my buzzer sounded. My son, true to his promise, paid me back for the gas and gave me gas money for coming to his rescue.
I was able to use my fuel rewards card because he was at Shell, the only gas station I have a rewards card for.
When I got home, I fixed a salad - lettuce, celery, onion, tomato, and cucumber with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I'm eating as I'm typing.
I see an additional 22 notifications, putting me over 100 again. I don't think I'm going to finish the notifications again today. Though, I'm going to try.
How was your day? Have you rescued a family member or friend who needed help in a pinch? Thanks for reading.

You're a good mom, I would do the same for any of my kids or grandkids. I took jack to camp this morning so his mom could get to work on time.

That's great that you were able to help him out, and that he did pay you back. I haven't had to rescue a family member or friend.

@just4him That is very good he did then right away. I understand, it is tough at the end of the month, especially when the budget is tight.

Yes. I did last year. Our son-in-law borrowed our family service van and it ran out of gas. I was worrying why he didn't come back for we're using the service. I called him and that's what had happened.
I bought 4 liters of diesel in a container and brought it there riding a motorized tricycle plying to that route. He filled the van with the gasvI brought. He told me that he forgot to refill the car's fuel tank.

It's good you were free, and able to help him out.
also good he paid you back, and for going in the first place with it being so far away.
yes, we've always helped friends and family, whether it's been for a little pinch or a big one.

Kind of you to help him and then he fulfilling his promise back.
I want to say something in a positive way here that if it was an Indian Parent, they won't take the money back from their child (although he's much grown up man)
But I really liked that you took it because I believe the same thing. Money is the biggest evil to spoil the relationships so i neither keep anyone's money, nor do I let anyone keep my money.
I really like many foreign countries trends.. And so this one too.
Keeping a Balance in relationships keep the relationship going

I can understand what you're saying, and if what I did for him wouldn't have bounced my account before the end of the month, I would have let it go. However, he always catches me when my account is ready to go bust and I can't afford overdraft fees. I've already put the money back in the bank to keep my balance in the black.

That is better than what my son did about a year ago. He called and I was still in bed. Then he fb messaged hubby. Hubby picked him up then they went to get gas. Then back to get the truck that was on the side of the road empty
