The days when poppies still bloomed every few years on the east slopes of Mount Franklin.
I thought I'd have many more opportunities to take these kinds of shots but they don't bloom anymore, either the seeds were all eaten or the weather hasn't been right. Either way in the last 15 years there haven't been many poppies that would bloom.
Well, those were the days.

Yeah, it's sad but it's typical desert actually. I don't recall seeing them when I was growing up though, mom once told me that the Army dumped a lot of poppy seeds on the side of the mountain one year and I think a lot of it was eaten by field mice and insects. I would love to try to get them to grow on my lot I've had no success as of yet.

@rebelann It has also to do with decreased interest in gardening.

It has to do with this being a desert and the conditions for poppies isn't always correct for them to bloom @allknowing

Are they yellow too?
I wish they would still bloom every few years like they used to.

The last time they bloomed was in 2003 but they weren't as showy as the ones in those photos.

. Don't let it get stuck in my head now! I'm listening to Bach with Doodles right now. They just don't go together.
